Review : In Hearts of Stone the author introduces us to four lonley beings who could not be any more different. We meet Vincent and Noir, the gargoyle and the witch. Even if Vincent is destined to keep Noir safe, he is also sure that she will see in him just one of those beings that she needs to kill. Therefore he remains, burdened by a curse hidden in the shadows suffering because of his curse. We also get to know Kara and Ash, their lifes are further seperated, as she is an Angel and he is a Demon. Where most books have leading characters and supporting ones, in Hearts of Stone the reader feels that we have four equaly strong leads. Love knows no boundaries and so the reader is, from the first pages on, deep in the middle of a hot and steaming storyline. The story starts with jumps into several places and into different times and as it continues it slowly tied together and we find out that everything happens for a reason. Sex is not a subtle note in this at times rather dark story but always present in the front of all the action that is happening. The writing is fluent and I am happy to recommend this book to all friends of hot and steamy paranormal romances.

Such an unusual story – great characters and great plot – the story could have been a little longer not for the plot but for the reader to stay longer with theses characters. I am really looking forward to the next books and I am glad I discovered this new to me author.

Review :

*Spoiler alert* After reading five books of the Misjudged series, it was a logical consequence that I am going to read this one as well. In this book which can be read as as stand-alone(which I wouldn’t recommend as some parts of the book are even more logical when you know what happened before), we get to know more about Holly who is the daughter of Brandon and Alexis, the main characters of the Misjudged series. In this book we learn what happens with her and how she deals with her life after her mother and the wife of Brandon dies when she was a small kid. On these around 100 pages the reader is confronted with the overprotective “daddy” who just wants to protect his daughter, totally understandable as you know what happened at the end of #5 Misjudged. With Devon, the story gets more exiting and lively as he seems to cause trouble in Holly’s life.

I really love the way how Sarah Elizabeth described the father-daughter-relationship. This combined with Devon who seems to be not the guy everybody thinks he is, you dip into a new story that includes a lot of interesting attempts how the story could go on. At this point I want to explain why I rated this books with 4 stars and not five as it is in general again a book you just need to fall in love with. I am 100per cent sure that with the upcoming sequel, the impression will be a different one.

Right now, the story just feels kind of unfinished because we get to know a lot of important parts, but there is this special feeling I can’t really put into words.

If the author does what she did in the other books, I will overthink my rating.

Review : Meet Phinn and Molly, two people hurt by their past hiding out in a small town. We find ourselves right in the middle of a beautiful discribed english landscape. The characters of their friends and neighbours all feel warm and likeable. Molly is hiding from her love life but manages to keep up a living for herself . Phinn on the other hand (and I am sorry if this is a spoiler – but I feel it is very important to mention) is suffering from a severe depression that makes it almost impossible for him to function on a normal base. There were some moments throughout the story were I was really afraid for him and where this story might take me. But I really liked the sensitive way in which Molly approached Phinn, there were enough occcasion in which she could have reacted differently and nobody would have blamed her, but she turned out to be bigger than expected. Understanding what Phinn was going through she was able to analyse what went wrong in her life too. Even with all those problems lingering in their past and threatening their future, this book surprises with witty dialogues and makes you smile at Molly and Phinn’s banter. Personally I felt that the story was dragging a little when coming to an end and also some ‘things’ about Phinn’s issues left me wondering. Therefore I am not able to give a higher rating but I can still recommend it to everyone who likes reading a typical english romance on a rainy saturday.

That was the type of infuriating person Caleb was.

So frustrating.

Sometimes incredibly funny and endearingly sweet.

And hot.

He eventually grew on me, and Caleb soon became one of my best friends that year.

too bad he was headed back to England soon, so nothing could happen between us—for so many reasons.

I definitely couldn’t fall in love with him, especially since all we had was just one year.

Reading my first Book by Penelope Ward – which was “Stepbrother Dearest” is not something that is easily forgotten. Even if it has been years since I read it some of the moments still stay with me. And ever since I finished reading it I was hoping to read something of a similar plotline and intensity from her again.

Well now I have … and you can guess it … it was “Just one Year” – while the End of “Stepbrother Dearest” will forever be burned in my Heart – Just one Year just took a close second because I love her books with leads that are in the YA area.

(of her single written books – because her books with writing partner Vi Keeland are a whole different subject)

It was only the End that I somehow could not bring as close to my heart as I would have wished. Because while I might have understood that is was written because Ms. Ward listened to what the characters needed for their story – I as a reader didn’t need that specific string to love the book.

Still, this book is a straight 5 Star that pulled at my heartstrings and had me shedding some small tears (it seems the full-blown ugly cry number one will forever be cocky bastard #shruggs and I can live with that)

This book gives the devoted romance reader (like ME) everything you could wish for. I loved the banter from the first page on. The characters Ms. Ward writes might be not perfect but they are beautifully imperfect for each other and that is where the real magic is hidden.

And with every one of these plotlines – no matter if they are the co or alone written books this author always hides this little tidbit that will remain with the reader and whenever you notice in your everyday life it will remind you of these books.

This book is no different and I love that so while you should go and order this book – I will go and try to find that damn s’more “thingy”

Review : Meeting our leading Characters, we find ourselves in a world where it is really possible for an young and inexperienced woman like Grace to “grab” herself a guy Jonathan. So as a reader you need to be open for this kind of plot. The story is told fluently and without flaws. Lovers of Books like “Fire after Dark” or the often refered to books of E.L. James will find an enjoyable read which leaves the reader with the good feeling of familiarity. Which is also the (if you can call it that or want to call it that) biggest weakness of the books. As they offer basically no new storyline but just another wrapping of a well known but good plot. Of course it is a question of your personal view if you mind reading a similar plot, therefore this is not necessarily a bad thing as you know what you are getting.

I knew what to expect and was therefore able to enjoy the story from beginning to end and I can recommend this book to everybody who is looking for an easily digestible story.
