Heart of Gold
 Firecats #1

A curse that can’t be broken…
Thomas “Ratchet” Golding used to be a fearsome and powerful werecat. Until he and his wicked clan of Alley Cats messed with the wrong coven of witches. Now a curse has crippled his animal and made him question his entire existence. He knows if he’s ever going to break it and heal his cat, he has to learn to love. Easier said than done when he was bred and raised to hate, hurt, and maim. But he’s gotten used to finding treasure among the ruins. Whether it be his life or the trash heap the Alley Cats call home, he can spot the gold among the muck. And he’s about to find the greatest treasure of all.
A life stolen…
Marlee Benson has been missing for ten years, and now she’s found. But still not free. Taken by a ruthless casino lord to pay off a debt, she’s managed to narrowly escape with her life intact. But when she stumbles, broken and bloody, into the lot of a known gang, she’s caught by the one called Ratchet. If his brothers find out she’s there, she might not survive what comes next. But she doesn’t count on him protecting her. Risking his skin for her. He isn’t what she expected. And if she can find a way to escape him she might just get her life back.
Every redemption begins with a spark…
When Ratchet is forced to make a choice between what he wants and what is right, it could cost him everything. His clan, his pride. But most importantly, the trust of the woman who is cleansing his heart with fire. If sacrifice is what the universe wants for his sins, he’ll do it to keep his treasure safe. Even if it means losing his heart… just when he’s found it.

Blurb : Billionaire heiress Emma Devaroux has been living a safe-yet-mundane existence in Georgia for too long, but when she learns her sister, Joslyn, has been arrested, she heads to New York City to find out what really happened. Unfortunately, as an unemployed debutante, she’s not exactly qualified to be leading an investigation. But help is at hand in the form of the handsome, former military man Jace Lance who happens to be the one who got her sister arrested in the first place. Jace thinks Emma is crazy for even considering working with him since he’s the one who stopped Joslyn from killing his former client. However, he can’t deny that the sexy southerner is in over her head when her tycoon cousins try to hire him to make sure Emma doesn’t find out the truth about what really caused her sister’s murderous actions. As they begin to uncover the truth together –and get to know each other intimately – it becomes clear that the more answers they get, the more danger Emma is in. Jace is determined to protect her, but how can he keep her safe when her whole family is in on the conspiracy?
Review : Like the other books of the series, this one was as well surprising and refreshing! It was not only easy to actually “feel” the protagonists, but also very exiting to see how the story develops. Moreover I really liked the way the story went on as the pace never was slowing down so much that I was bored. An emotional book with a touching story! The only thing I would criticize is the fact that sometimes there are things unsaid or not enough explained. But even then you just should give it a try and take a look!

An Accidental Date with a Billionaire
Diane Alberts
April 8th 2019

Samantha Taylor turned her back on her wealthy family to focus on social work. Those who know her think she’s the heart of kindness. Those who know her really well know she’s in a never-ending battle to make up for the harm her family’s companies inflict on the world. Which is how she finds herself at a charity bachelor auction of all places.

But oops, she was supposed to bid on her bff’s brother as a favor and accidentally bid on the wrong guy. Sue her for not being able to tell one stick-in-the-mud CEO from another.

Backstage, she goes to tell him not to worry about having to go through with a date or anything, but the oafish billionaire cuts her off dismissively. Looks her up and down, hands her a card with his assistant’s contact details, and reminds her that sex is definitely off the table.

Oh, she’ll call the assistant all right and have her make sure he wears jeans and comfortable shoes and to pick her up at seven a.m. The only “hammering” this guy is going to be doing is at Habitat for Humanity.

Too bad he turns out to be nothing like she expected.

Blurb : As the CEO of a multi-billion dollar retail chain, Victoria Green isn’t used to asking for help, especially not from too attractive for their own good repairmen like Dean Carey. After Victoria is attacked at her own party and Dean fights off the culprit, she’s forced to tell him her secret: Victoria’s father is on his deathbed, and her brother, who nearly ran the company into the ground, might be willing to do anything to make sure controlling interest goes to him. Dean wants nothing to do with the ice princess CEO, even if he can’t keep his eyes off certain… assets of hers. He’s got enough on his plate between trying to get enough work to pay the bills and raising his little sister who’s growing up much too fast for his liking. Despite his misgivings, when Victoria offers him a blank check if he will keep his mouth shut about what he saw and shadow her until she can hire a more qualified bodyguard, he can’t bring himself to turn down that kind of cash. Over the next few days, Dean learns Victoria isn’t as cold as he first thought and Victoria realizes that Dean is so much more than a handyman. But someone wants her dead and if they don’t figure out who and stop them, they might never get their happily ever after.
Review :After finding out that the CEO in this book is female, I was even more exited to find out how this story is going to develop.
I really like the way the main characters are presented – it is not only something totally surprising as it is kind of a role change compared with other books of this genre. It was also great to get to know them as they are described in a really visual way. It´s obvious how much the author tried to create something different, something we haven´t already seen. This is what she did! But also, there has to be a reason why we rated this book with only 4 Stars. There are some situations filled with not easily believeable actions and decisions which made me question some scenes.
At the end the only thing left to say is that if you need something “different” you should take a look at this book!

I'll Be Seeing You

I’ll Be Seeing You
Beth Rinyu
March 29th 2019

My mother once said that angels come in many forms: people, animals, insects, flowers or even objects. Some stay with us for just a short time, helping us through difficult times, others stay forever, deep inside our soul, carrying us from one moment to the next. I always wanted to believe it was true, that maybe in a world where there was so much bad, there was still hope for some good. As I grew older and the innocence of childhood waned, tainting my views on life, I was finding that perhaps it was just my mother’s way of feeding my young imagination. That all changed the day I met him.

You know that feeling you get deep inside your gut? The one that tells you something is dangerous, or something is meant to be. The one that sees the bad or good in a person before they even utter a single syllable to you. The one that rattles your very soul, making you question your own sanity because you know you must be completely mad for having such an intense connection to someone you’ve just met. That’s the feeling I had when I first saw him. It was so much more than his good looks, his charming personality and his caring ways. It was something unexplainable and unimaginable.

The first time we met, I felt it, and I was pretty certain he did too. Familiar strangers searching for someone, or something deep inside the other. Maybe I was losing my mind or maybe I was just caught up in a daydream of how I wished my life could be. But from the first moment I had gotten caught up in his gaze, I knew I had stared into those pale-blue eyes once before…maybe not in this lifetime, but perhaps a lifetime before.

Blurb : Art appraiser Addison Montgomery just wants a normal life. One where she can ignore the vicious ghosts who follow her. One where she’s free from her “gift” of touching an object and seeing the owner’s deepest secrets. And one where she can fall in love without having all of the above get in the way. But when tall, dark, and dangerous gallery owner Blake Greenwood enters her life, normal is the last thing she’s feeling. The man has more secrets than the priceless art he sells, giving Addison’s quest for normal no chance. That, and he may just hold the key to uncovering the truth behind her father’s unexplained disappearance. Despite her paranormal gifts warning her to stay away, she feels an inexplicable, captivating fascination for him, something that goes deeper than attraction. There’s something between them that’s older than time, and if she can learn to give him her trust, it may just save her life.
Review : Here goes another book that I devoured in just a few hours. The Fine Art of Deception: Undoing Time by Alyssa Richards features an interesting concept of Romance, Paranormal Elements and Crime.
I felt like I was standing right in the middle of a Movie Set of something between Pierce Brosnan’s “The Thomas Crown Affair” or Sean Connery’s “Entrapment”. I was sucked into the story from the beginning and I could not stop reading. It was such an interesting mix between the paranormal – romance and crime elements that kept me reading and wondering what might happen next.
I really whished there were more books out there playing in such an intriguing way with different elements instead of featuring only one.
I liked the characters and the mystery around them also how the story developed step by step and even if I already had my suspicions quite early it was not disturbing my reading to find out I was right about certain things.
What annoyed me a little was that there were slightly too many “Brand names” around. I understood that it was a way of letting the reader feel that he was moving in the “high society “ but I am sure that this was obvious from the beginning on due to all the art itself so for my personal taste all those Brands added into the mix felt like product placement (sorry)
The writing style of the author is fluent and flawless but I think that there were to many viewpoints added into the mix. It really confused me as a reader that the story jumped between several persons PoV .
In addition, I surly hope that the next book – that the author promised us at the end of this one – will bring this story to an conclusion, because even if this book has a “reasonable” ending for a romance novel, the crime elements in this book demand a different ending.
However, I do not want to leave this review on a negative note as this book really deserves better, therefore I would like to finish with my recommendation of this book to all lovers of above the mentioned movies as well as readers that are willing and open to try a little different approach on crime novels.

Unforgettable: Book One (A Hollywood Love Story, #1)

Unforgettable: Book One
A Hollywood Love Story #1
Nelle L’Amour
November 2nd 2015

Brandon: I’ve just woken up from a life or death coma. And learned that not only am I Hollywood’s number one heartthrob, but I’m also engaged to America’s It Girl, Katrina Moore. She may be a blond goddess, but my mind can’t remember a thing. And the rest of me can’t feel a thing…anywhere. Because my heart started beating for another the minute she came through the door.

Zoey: Screw Brandon Taylor. Recovering from his hit and run accident, my demanding, egotistical boss is more of a jerk than ever. And with those violet eyes, more ridiculously panty-melting beautiful. As his personal assistant, I have to attend to his every whim and need as well as contend with his stuck-up fiancée. Life isn’t easy for me. Despite my visible size, I’ve always been invisible. Maybe, the amnesiac is beginning to remember. A girl can dream. No man is more unforgettable…in every way.

Join Brandon and Zoey as their unlikely Hollywood fairy tale unfolds. From Los Angeles to the South of France, their love story has it all–romance, passion, steamy hot sex, glitz and glamour, plus an adorable little dog and a murder that could unravel everything.

Blurb : Hell hath no fury like a fangirl scorned…When Daisy Morris finds out she’s spending the summer with her dad, bodyguard for Seconds to Juliet—the hottest boy band around—she knows it couldn’t be more perfect. But not because she’s a fan. Oh, no. Because ever since front man Trevin Jacobs completely humiliated her by standing her up for homecoming, Daisy is out for a little revenge. Yup, Trevin Jacobs is goin’ down…When one of his bandmates bets Trevin he can’t make Daisy—the gorgeous but surprisingly ice-cold daughter of their bodyguard—fall in love with him, it’s a bet he can’t resist. Sure, Daisy won’t give him the time of day for reasons he can’t understand, and her dad’s hell-bent against his little girl spending time with a superstar. But the terms are set, and Trevin is determined to make Daisy fall…hard. But every front man should know never to trust a girl with a pretty face…This Entangled Teen Crush book contains adult language, sexual situations, and seriously hot boys. It may cause swoony daydreams involving a certain super-cute front man.
Review : I had the pleasure to receive “Daisy and the Front Man” by Rebekah L. Purdy for review. It is the 3rd book of the Backstage Pass series, but I can honestly say that it can be read as a standalone novel without problems. And I believe except for small mentions of the persons that probably have been the main characters of the first to books you will not get to much spoilers. (if you can ignore the fact that the ending must have been a happy one).
I choose this book fully knowing that it will be heavy on the “cliché” side and would most probably have a happy ending – but I guess this is no big surprise when you read the Blurb – so it’s no spoiler. The writing is flawless and the story is told fluent. The author brings the reader near to the thoughts and dreams of a teenager. And while it is logical that a lot of stuff seems to be to good to be true – the reader will accept it as it has to be a part of a “feel good” novel.
Most of the story did feel really good when you take the age of the characters into consideration. Although there were a few things that I could not relate to, as even in a fictional story all those parts that relate to reality should remain “real”. Example the part with the hair dye… anyone ever trying to dye his/her hair will agree that it is not possible to dye dark (especially thick Asian hair) from black to full blond within the time period of one – short hair – hairwash.
Still in total I enjoyed this book and I will probably take a look into the first books as well as the probably following ones, because the authors writing style is really good. And I assume that it is again just me being my natural critical self.
So please readers – Enjoy this book as a nice sommer/beach read …

Misfortune. Bad luck. Heartache.

Devon Thorpe is no stranger to any of them.

After devastating news, Devon’s life becomes a prison of responsibility, heartbreak, and hardship. All her dreams to leave her small town vanish. A prisoner of circumstance.

At her breaking point, Devon has a reckless moment in a diner bathroom with a blue-eyed sexy stranger. A single encounter with him leaves a deep mark on Devon, giving her only a memory of his touch when nights are lonely, and her life becomes too much to take.

Years later, a terrifying incident takes her and her family to Albuquerque NM, where she finds work as a server at a bar to support her mother.

Tattooed, moody, rough, brown-eyed, sexy as hell, Lincoln Kessler, the mysterious owner of the saloon, instantly draws Devon in. She can’t let go of the feeling there is some strange connection between them.

But the more Lincoln tries to push her away, the more determined she is to figure out the enigmatic man. One fiery kiss and Devon realizes she should have stayed away because when their worlds collide and tragedy strikes, she recognizes they are not each other’s savior, but each other’s misfortune.

A tear-jerking novel about ill-fated love, heartache, loss, and finding your way through the pain.

And a lot of bad luck.

*A NA/Adult Sexy and heartbreaking Contemporary Romance. Deeply emotional with a sensitive subject matter of dealing with a crippling mind disease.

Title : On My Knees
Author : J. Kenner
Series : Stark International Trilogy #2
Rating : 4.5 Stars
Blurb : I never thought I’d lose control, but his desire took me right to the edge. Powerful, ambitious, and devastatingly sexy, Jackson Steele was unlike any other man I’d ever known. He went after what he wanted with his whole mind, body, and soul—and I was the woman in his sights.
One touch and I surrendered, one night together and I was undone. Jackson and I had secrets, dark pieces of our pasts that threatened to swallow us both. We couldn’t outrun our demons, or the people trying to tear us apart. But in our passion we found salvation, and in each other’s arms we found release. I was scared to trust Jackson fully, to finally let go. Yet no matter the dangers that lay ahead, I knew I was his—and now that we’ve laid claim, there’s no more holding back.
Review : After reading the first book of this series, I desperately needed to read the second book as this story is not only deeply emotional, but also filled with an awesome story. And this I also was able to find in the second book which to quote the often used phrase “royally fucked me up”. As a reader you were easily able to connect with the characters, especially Sylvia whose thoughts were presented in a very good writing style. I also loved the way the story-line developed, even if there were some parts which 1) felt like they already happened during the story of Nikki and Damien and 2) came fully unexpected as I definetly would have thought that something else should happen. This is why I rated this book with 4 Stars, even if it’s more like 4.5 . This book just has shown again that J. Kenners book are nothing you can easily forget. So take a look and become a part of the Stark and Steele world, including a lot of different aspects added to not only a fiery, but also a very passionate story!
