Review :

I started to read and couldn’t really identify with the characters at all which made it really difficult to read the story. There were moments while reading at which I thought “Ok, there it is! ” which at the end lightened up the story, but still didn’t made me say “OH YES, I want to know how it’s going on!”. The story the actual story wants to tell is awesome, without a doubt. I just really couldn’t connect with the way John Green tried to tell this story. There all this philosophical parts which really made me think -that’s the part I really liked. Even today, some days after I finished this book…. But at the end, I had to admit to myself that this book isn’t the right book for me at all.

To see how this two work-loving people enjoy their time together was so lovely, especially considering the issues Helen has because of her past. To see how Simon does everything possible to make her feel comfortable even when the only thing he wants to do is “attacking” her is an aspect which is underlined even more by the use of two different POV’s.

Even if there is a lot of “feel good content”, as a reader you are confronted with some some difficult situations which are ,in my opinion, even as important as the rest of the story.

Review : Breathing Books…. that is what I would love to do 24/7. And I live for those books that will let me breath. How can it be that I did not read any book of this author before ? Honestly I am shocked and I will remedy this situation ASAP. After reading the Blurb I knew … ME and THIS book ? There would only be two possible outcomes – 5 Stars or a real mess. I was as usual hoping for the best and expecting the worst. BUT what I got … OMG…. I am sitting here struggeling to find the words to write this while I am still feeling the aftermath of everything – as I just finished reading 5 minutes ago – I never once questioned the world that Nashoda created around her characters. It may be paranormal but it was belivable from the first page. Which is a rare case, as normaly the reader needs a certain time to come into the flow of a new world when starting a new series. This world is near enough to the one we are living in and just far enough to make it fantasic. My emotions felt as raw as if I was experiencing things alongside the characters. And strangely I never even wept, even when everything looked hopeless and my heart was struggeling with evey beat, which also shows that I was fully in the story and trying to be as strong as the leads were. It was such a wonderful change to other storys that both, Max and Jasper were so good together. It never felt as if one of those strong and stubborn personalities would have to surrender to the other, even if it was exactly what they did . The development of their emotions felt real and I could almost taste the desire they felt for each other. It left me breathless at times. I was not able to put the book down and had to finish it in one session. And I can only say :

“Give me a brush so I can paint the 5 Stars for this awesome book golden”

Review : We meet Brandon at a very dark time in his live. Even though he has family, friends, fame, fortune and money his world is closing in on him and he feels lost and alone. When he meets his new neighbor Layna he is determined to stay as far away from her as it is possible without being rude, as his parents requested him to be “nice” to her. He does not want to involve anyone in his world and the things that go on in his mind, ever. But life is unpredictable and slowly but surely both of them are drawn to each other. Going any deeper into the story would tell to much, so I have to leave it at this. I am really at a loss when it comes to rating the book. I started reading this book as every reader with a certain expectation. Those were exceeded after like 25% of the book. I loved the development, the plot was unique and the dialogue was funny and witty. Even in his dark place Brandon still knew at all times THAT he was not OK, so there he was not fooling himself or anything. He basically just had no reason to leave that state of mind, so meeting Layna gave him the purpose he needed. My first problem came up, when I realize that the Blurb already told you something that you should not have known. So NOT reading the Blurb would have made the story even more surprising, as the author did basically everything in her power to conceal something in the story that the blurb somehow spoilered #mayor dislike on my side – so the Blurb needs a change I feel. But I tried to neglect that fact and continued to read. At about 50% I was willing to compare it to some of my favorite storys of “Colleen Hoover” and I was sure – SO sure that this would be a 5 Star read. AND then came … well… “something” that really killed the story for me something that left me reading the rest in a “well lets finish it and go to the next book” mood. I will not go into the details but you can be sure that I will tell the publisher in more detail where my problems were. But still I am left with my problem to find a voting for this book. After thinking about it for two days i finally decided to give it three stars. Those are basically for the 80% of the book I loved very much and the really very very good writing of the author. I will surely pick up another book of her at any time.

Review :I have read the Real series some time ago, so I got the chance to meet Remy before (if you haven’t met him ’til now, YOU SHOULD by the way). So when I saw that Katy Evans is going to publish a new book as a part of a series I really was thrilled (in German it is called “ganz aus dem Häuschen sein” which is what described my reaction even better).

And as the protagonist of the story seems to be affected by the German language, some German in this review is okay, I guess. 😉 From the Real series we know that music plays a really important role. So when the first thing I saw was a playlist my only thought was “this is going to be goooooooooooood”. It really was (even if the music doesn’t play an role as important as I expected it to play). With Sin (actually called Malcolm, but I can’t help myself), you are confronted with a new type of man you aren’t sure how to handle….

With Rachel he found his match as she has a very strong personality and is able to resist the man every woman seems to have fallen for. I like the fact that she really seems to be strong, but at some points I am asking myself: does her reaction really fit the situation? But then I am just like: thanks Katy for creating such a strong(at least on the outside) character.

The first 50% of the book were good, but there was just this special thing missing . You know, sparks?

But then suddenly that spark appeared, just that it wasn’t only a spark. It was more like a big hot fireball that changed the plot in a way I can’t really explain.

Until this point, I was so deep into the story that I celebrated my own “Katy Evans, you still can do this to me”-party. At this point I don’t want to say too much because of spoilers, but : THANK YOU FOR INTRODUCING Malcolm, the saint…the sinner …. I marked so many passages while reading, but there are some which I still have in my mind:

“He’s not all saint, but he’s not all sinner.” My reaction after the ending (REALLY, NOW I AM SUPPOSED TO WAIT ‘TIL JULY?): “I’m a mess, Saint”, I choke out.

Oh yes, that what I am right now….

Review : In Hearts of Stone the author introduces us to four lonley beings who could not be any more different. We meet Vincent and Noir, the gargoyle and the witch. Even if Vincent is destined to keep Noir safe, he is also sure that she will see in him just one of those beings that she needs to kill. Therefore he remains, burdened by a curse hidden in the shadows suffering because of his curse. We also get to know Kara and Ash, their lifes are further seperated, as she is an Angel and he is a Demon. Where most books have leading characters and supporting ones, in Hearts of Stone the reader feels that we have four equaly strong leads. Love knows no boundaries and so the reader is, from the first pages on, deep in the middle of a hot and steaming storyline. The story starts with jumps into several places and into different times and as it continues it slowly tied together and we find out that everything happens for a reason. Sex is not a subtle note in this at times rather dark story but always present in the front of all the action that is happening. The writing is fluent and I am happy to recommend this book to all friends of hot and steamy paranormal romances.
