Get It On, the newest standalone in the Man of the Month Series by #1 New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner is LIVE!
Skillful hands. A talented tongue.
Meet Mr. May.
Fate’s been messing with veteran Tyree Johnson. It took his buddies in combat and his wife in a fatal car accident. But he’ll be damned if he’ll let Fate take his beloved bar, The Fix on Sixth.
For years, he’s avoided being Fate’s whipping boy through sheer force of will, and now every bit of his focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that is, the first woman who ever touched his heart walks back into his life—along with a daughter he never knew.
After years of loneliness, Tyree’s not prepared for the way Eva’s sensual curves and sharp wit still capture his heart and rekindle his senses. All he knows is that for the first time in forever, he’s found a passion other than his bar. But one final twist arrives when Fate pits the bar he can’t bear to lose against the woman who’s stolen his heart.
He’s a master at red-hot ecstasy.

Her Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series (as Julie Kenner) is currently in development with AwesomenessTV/Awestruck.
Her books have sold over three million copies and are published in over twenty languages.

She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.

First thoughts after reading.
Oh how I wanted to love this book, hell how I wanted to even like this book but NOPE it just didn’t work for me. At. All. Rounded up to 3 stars.
The Characters.
Tyree Johnson is fighting for his dream the fix on sixth to succeed against chain clubs/pubs. So far so good. I couldn’t wait for Tyree to get his book. He is sweet and yet tough and his pain runs deep. Maybe too deep. The whole dead wife trope was laid on thick to the point that I never thought Tyree could get over it. I still don’t believe it if I’m being honest.
Eva Anderson get pregnant young but never regretted it. What she regretted was marrying a man she didn’t love. And finding out that her daughter’s father Elena, Tyree didn’t actually die in combat. Elena flies to Austin to meet her father, Eva flies also to save her from heartbreak.
Got to say I didn’t really care for the main characters here they could have been replaced with any Tom, Dick and Henrietta. It wouldn’t have made any difference.
The Chemistry.
They get reacquainted and the chemistry is still there but Tyree feels as if he is cheating on his wife who passed away a long time ago. Eva never wanted to replace her there was room for two but he can’t seem to deal with it.
The Writing & Plot.
Whereas the author can write it all felt so lackluster, so meh. The whole plot was missing something. That special something to make it like the other books. Now, this could just me but they had no sex oh they tried. Maybe that was what was missing. People over 40 also have sex you know Ms. Kenner? Just sayin’.
The Verdict.
The ending was rushed. I couldn’t really believe that he got over the whole issue. He still had his wedding ring on when he meet Eva for me it would have been important that I would have seen him take the ring off to really move on.
Not all books can be a winner.
