Review : We meet Lizzie Howard at a difficult time of her Life. She is finished having an Affair and is not sure about her career. Josh on the other hand is giving a nice facade to his family and friends after loosing his wife, but nobody really knows how he feels. Both know they should not mix business with pleasure. And especially when in such a small town nothing is hidden the heardache is already programmed. Summer on Lovers’ Island is a nice and easy read that promises the reader enjoyable hours. You notice during reading that it is part of a series, but not knowing the other parts when reading this novel is not a problem at all. On the Contrary, I will be checking out the other books of the series soon I think.

Smitten by the Brit is the second book in the “Sometimes in Love” Series by “new to me” author Melonie Johnson. I did not read the first one but I had no problems in catching up with the characters. If you plan on reading the series I would recommend starting with the first book before reading this one as you will otherwise spoiler too much of the story.

I really loved the dynamics between the characters. And Theo was really such a lovable guy. And from what I saw of the couple that was featured in the previous book that book is def. worth the read because Logan is simply hot with a capital “H”.

The setting of the plot was well developed and the story was written at a good pace. Yet I felt that the development of actual feelings between Bonnie and Theo came a little short within everything that was going on. It was almost like the spark might have happened in the first book where I as a reader was not present to witness it. Which was a shame as the whole setup was otherwise really adorable. I can recommend this book but I also recommend to read it the series in the right order so you hopefully will find that spark I was missing.

Review : âAfter The Warâ is not my first Jessica Scott novel. Therefore, I already had certain expectations when I received this book. Those expectations were fully met. The normal reader is usually an outsider, so therefore to judge if the drawn picture of the military is correct will be very hard. However, I feel that it at least sounds very believable if compared to other novel that sound far more romanticizing (too much infact). Therefore, Ms. Scottâs books give an interesting view on the military and in this case, especially from the viewpoint of a woman that is mother, widow and soldier.

The Storyline was good and the characters were fully developed with enough depth to give the reader the possibility to feel with/for them. The writing is fluent and the dialogues even witty at times.

I would like to recommend the book without hesitation to all lovers of âsecond chance â contemporary military romancesâ (what an expression) 🙂 .

Today I finished reading BROKEN DRIFT by –new to me – author Adrian Hale. It seems to be the second book in a series with standalone characters and storylines. Broken Drift is a well developed second chance romance. With Wyatt and Isla – Ms. Hale gave us two strong independent characters that have unfinished business with each other. Not everything is as it seems and the reader should be prepared for twists, turns and antagonists – everything that a good plot should have in store.

My feelings towards the characters – the author obviously spend a lot of time in the development of the characters – but I am not sure if for my very VERY personal taste Isla had too much focus on certain things. As I often say I need to connect to the characters in a certain way to feel them and Isla felt distant to me in the – very important – because story shaping – first chapters. It made me wonder what Wyatt saw in her.

On the other hand, it felt easier to forgive Wyatt a lot once you got a closer look at his life. While at first glance he seemed superficial, the second glance proved that the first was only a façade to handle his hurt.

The reader will be entertained by some great secondary characters and a spiteful antagonist – gosh I really hated that guy.

In total the reader gets a solid second chance novel with a an interesting cast and a great plot

Review : After reading 100s if not 1000s of books I can honestly say that it is not easy anymore to surprise me. I see a lot of good books , many very good books but rarely I find something unique. This was one of them !

I know that it is now expected that I explain WHY this book is so different from the tons of other books I have read so far, but honestly I can not explain it really. I wouldn’t even know just now how to compare it with any other book to make a recommendation that you read so often like “If your a fan of THIS (insert name) author than you have to read lust.

What I can tell you is that I found deeply and fully developed characters in this well written novel and a basically not very complicated plot. Already very early on in the story you can easy imagine the dark places both of them have visited to become what they are today. And strangely the question what really happend to them runs on the sidelines – at least it did for me. Because from the first chapter on I was captivated by the way the story was told. Without giving any storyline away it is very hard to explain my feelings. Lust is about two very broken persons, of which Cade is the one that is basically supposed to help Ivy but it becomes obvious very soon that its also Ivy helping Cade – even if she has no idea about it. The way the story is told through Cadens PoV felt so new to me that it made the book unique.

If you read/liked the Crossfire series books by Sylvia Day, the often refered to 50 shades novels or the This Man Triology by Jodi Ellen Malpas – than you might want to read this book. Not because of the hot Alpha Male, or the steaming sex or anything like that. No – thats not what you will find here – well ok – not true – some of it is in here. BUT the main thing you will find here in this book is a collection of all those above mentioned lead characters in their absolute most vulnerable moments of those books.

Review : There are a few signs that tell me as a reader if a book is good. There is no need for all signs to come together in one book, but at least one of the signs should be there.

-The happy feeling that you will remember that book for a long time–The ugly crying that tells you something touched your core–The âyeah-fist-bumpâ feeling that shows you were really into the story-

When reading the book I felt I liked it â but I was surprised, because I could not decide WHY?

Because I could not place it into one of the above categories â¦ Then I noticed something! I totally forgot about the fourth sign. It is one that I so rarely find in a book that I overlooked it. This is the sign I usually get in a good movie when the story is so clear in front of your eyes that you have no other choice than to feel like your right in the middle of it â¦.

-The erratic heartbeat-

At certain points of the book, my heart was beating so fast that it was nearly painful. I cannot even explain why. It was the complete picture the author drew, she painted a believable world. It was far enough from reality to be âdystopianâ but near enough to be scary real in some points. The Blurb of a Book is besides the cover and the content the most important item and often underestimated if feel. However, there was something in the Blurb that was compelling even me to read it.

I am no fan of dystopian series – Yes, you read correctly – I did NOT read Hunger Games so far (but I admit to being tempted to read Divergent after seeing the first movie short time ago). I knew when I choose this ARC what I would be getting and I wanted to read it EVEN if it was not dealing with my most favorite reading subjects.

I can only recommend this book to everybody who is even remotely interested in Books like âDivergentâ (sorry for the inevitable comparison)

The characters are well developed.

The Plot is perfectly constructed

The writing of the story is fluent and flawless.

Review : I am speechless. And it has been several hours since I finished this book. I think I fell in love with Thea and Levi. It has been a long time since I last read a book and had no complains what-so-ever. The writing was flawless. The dialogue was funny, serious, witty, and sexy so really everything you could desire. The characters are so well developed that it almost hurt to be reminded that they are fictional. In some moments, I felt like I was reading a movie script and there were even several movies that came to my mind, when at the same time I was mentally comparing it automatically with several books I read and liked. What I especially loved was the way the author separated the story in Present/Past and Levi/Thea â the reader had 4 views on the story. The differences between present and past were so gigantic that I got a whiplash when trying to compare the present with the past Levi. However, it was perfect for the story. When the pieces started to fall into place, you start noticing that there would have been so many possible clichÃ©s the author could have used to âboostâ the story. There is the age difference, color of their skins or even the most obvious one â the teacher/student â situation BUT none of those were used in an obvious way. Instead, the story focuses on just Levi and Thea, leaving all those clichÃ©s at the sidelines only entering the story when necessary. I truly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more from this author Please again hand me my brush to paint the 5 stars golden 😀

Review :

When I read the blurb the first thing that came to my mind was that I actually never seem to have something like this before. So I was even more exited to started reading…. The best thing about the book was the story-line itself. They way Kathleen Mix told the story of the characters described in the book was interesting, “refreshing” and nothing I have never read before. Especially from the beginning up to around 50% of the book, I was so exited to read more pages, because I wanted to know how the story is going on, The part before the end actually felt a little bit too long….to out-stretched…Especially compared with the end which just came too fast. At first I thought it was “my own problem”, but when I checked Goodreads for reviews to compare my impressions I have seen that I am probably not influenced by something surrounding me. So if the last part of the book would have been structured a little bit better regarding to the pace, this book would have gotten 5 stars. Also because the characters are deep which made it easy to actually not only connect with them, but also connect with the story.
