Review :I have to admit that Seven Nights to Surrender by Jeanette Grey surprised me … in both a good and bad way.
Let’s start with what I did NOT like – which is basically just one thing. Even though the ending is not THAT bad ( I have had worse surprises ) but lately I noticed that I do not like it that much if I only find out at the end of the book that this is not a standalone novel. I like to know in advance that I will be going into a “series” or a “more-part-novel”, because me expectations for content, timing and pace of a story are different depending on the fact if it will be a single book, a series of standalones (independent but connected by sharing characters) or a more-part-novel.
But other than this one negative point this book only left me with positive feelings so far. Honestly ? I think the Author could have ended the book easily with just a few changed lines so that leaves me intrigued to find out what she will do in the next part. Her explanation/idea might work out just fine – or it might ruin the good start that this novel gave me. I will surely be around to find out – and I already added the follow up book to my list of expected books.
Jeanette Grey is a new to me author and after reading this book – I will have to checkup on her other novel’s too, as her writing style appealed to me. In the beginning I was a little unsure if I was going to like the storyline but after the first few chapters the writing style captured me and did not let me go until the very end.
I liked the character development and that the reader had the chance to look deep into both sides of the involved characters. Often Stories are only told from one point of view and the reader will never find out what was going on in the other character’s mind. I can not wait to find out what will happen next with Kate and Rylan…
