Review : His Kiss by Jolyse Barnett was a very confusing book for me. I am a reader that needs emotions in a book – I need to feel what the book characters are experiencing.
And while the basic story of this book was an interesting on, my problems with the book already started with the way the author is telling the story. Throughout the whole book, I felt distant from the acting persons, which made it impossible for me to connect with them.
In addition, I feel that the author is losing the focus of the story at times, by getting to involved in the secondary characters in the Novel. I never thought that I would live to see the day that I complain about to much information.
Normally I am the one always talking about not enough depth for characters. But in this case the balance felt of. The reader learned by far too much about the secondary characters and the main subjects of the book were lost somewhere along the storyline.
For me – it felt like I was reading a third book of a series and the author tried to remind the reader of what had happened in the books before – it felt like I was reading a 2nd book of a series and the author tried too hard to remind the reader of what had happened in the book before.
So unfortunately I cannot give a high praise and this will not be one of my favorites – but as I said – the storyline itself wasn’t bad and the rest might be only my issues.
