Title : The Consequence of Loving Colton
Author : Rachel Van Dyken
Series :Consequence, #1
Rating : 5 Stars

My name is Milo Caro and I have a confession to make. I’ve been in love with Colton Mathews since I was five. He should have known that sharing a cookie with a sugar obsessed little monster would do the trick–it sealed his fate. So really, the fact that he’s sporting a black eye, a limp, almost got ran over by a car, and was nearly responsible for another person’s death? Right. HIs fault. Not mine. I made a pact with myself–this weekend would be different. I’d come home for my brothers wedding, smile, and Colton would naturally melt into my arms, we’d get married have five kids, live in a house by the river, and get a dog named scratch (clearly I’ve thought this through). What really happened? I punched my brother in the face, Colton kissed me and apologized, I lied about having a boyfriend, oh and everyone wants to meet the mystery man. They say laughter always comes before insanity–ha, ha. All I wanted was my brother’s best friend…instead I’m sitting in prison. Let this be a lesson to you all…life rarely happens the way you want it to. Damn cookie.

Review :

What can I say? There is so much I want to say…need to say…want to scream out! THIS BOOK IS BEYOND AWESOME! Really…. Where do I begin? What I love most about this book are all the lovely, special and and deep characters(MAX, how could you not love MAX–>I wish I could have a buddie like MAX) which are the main reason you just need to fall in love with this book. It’s the craziest constellation of characters I have ever met in one single book(the Granny not to forget). The way they interact with each other, they talk to each other, how they are intertwined…And then there is the story the characters are creating within the course of action . After I finished this book, my first thought after smiling for a long long time was: “Wait, what kind of story is this? Right from the beginning it was pretty clear that this is going to end like this and that this is the way how the story is going to develop. ” Normally this thought should made me shrink as it is something which you don’t want to thing about after finishing a book. But you know what? With this book it really doesn’t matter! You get what is described in the plot-nothing more, nothing less(in reference to the story). It’s a story about a girl who doesn’t want to be seen as a girl anymore, more as s woman who still is in love with the best friend of her brother. Since she was a kid herself….
It was lovely to see and hear the thoughts of the protagonists as the story is written in two different POV’s which is awesome as you have the chance to get to see the story not only through Milo’s eyes, also through Colton’s. I am sure that some parts of the story could be “too positive” for some readers, but if they just enjoy what lays ahead of them without worrying about this part, they just need to LOVE IT, no matter what. I totally would describe this story as a “feel god-story” as it is the way how you feel after finishing the book.
I started to read this book in the early morning, because I wasn’t able to sleep anymore at all and finished it at midday without even getting to eat something or preaparing myself for the day(Shame on me? NO, not really :D). During these hours of pure joy, I couldn’t stop myself and took so many screenshots that it now feels like my smartphone is exploding! I loved the movie references, the comparisons (“Seriusly. His smile was one that made girls want the condom to break.”), the situations in which Tic Tac Toe or Ping Pong gets a total new meaning or the fact that finally I found somebody who has the same ability to destroy everything within reach by just relocating the bag hanging over my shoulder…. The fact that 4 single words “Skinny-dipping, wine, moonlight, swordplay” in combination with a castle can mean so much ….
This book totally screams Rachel right from the very beginning!
INFO: There is a second book announced including Max’s story.
