Title : Chaos and Moonlight
Author : A.D. Marrow
Series : Order of the Nines, #1
Rating : 4 Stars
Blurb : The Nines, an elite group of vampires, was established to stand as protection for their race. Fractured by centuries of betrayal and loss, the group is now little more than myth, its remaining members scarred and shattered. Taris, the oldest living vampire, is no stranger to loss and heartbreak. He is all that holds the Nines together as they struggle to save themselves from total extinction. Enter the beautiful and briliant Dr. Sarah Bridgeman, whose medical research has resulted in a breakthrough for both humans and vampires. Her work may be the salvation this weary band of guardians has been looking for. Taris needs to reach Sarah and enlist her help—before those aligned against him can act. Can a vampire king convince a stunning young scientist to save a species that isn’t even supposed to exist? For now, only one thing is certain: no science can explain the explosive chemistry between them. Chaos and Moonlight is the first installment in the Order of the Nines series, and is A. D. Marrow’s debut novel.
Review : There are so many vampire novels out there and I read so many of them – that I was a little sceptic to be honest when I received this book to review. But after the first few chapters I had to admit that the author indeed managed to make Vampires interesting again. The picture she draws really is more the picture of a human with an genetic problem/difference, the classic vampire you will not find in this book. I liked the development of the main characters and the side characters were good developed that you could already see several possibilities for future novels of this series. It was almost a shame that some of those possibilities were already used on the sidelines of this book (without spoiler: NICK), which I feel was almost a waste of great potential and this is really the only reason I did not give the book 5 stars. But in Total this was a great start for a series. The story is well developed, the characters are deep, the dialogues are serious/dark at times but funny/witty at others and the writing is fluent/flawless. I can honestly recommend this book fully to all lovers of paranormal/vampire romance. Reading it in one session I already look forward to the next release of the series.
