“Some guys call, some date, and some guys, they might even get married. But, sweetheart, I ain’t any of those guys…” ~ Zeke DeclanEvery girl in Galveston County knows about Zeke Declan’s rules and has agreed to them or is considering them.Rule #1 Don’t call him. He’ll call you.Rule #2 He doesn’t date.Rule #3 No sleepovers.Rule #4 Absolutely, no virgins. When a couple friends talk me into going back to their hometown in the Bayou for the summer and challenge me to break “the best damn lay in Galveston County” along with every single one of his ridiculous rules, I’m confident that I can get the job done. I’m no stranger to men. I have five older brothers. I’m a teacher and I’m used to being around rebellious teenagers. However, Zeke Declan is definitely not someone that I could have prepared for. He’s not a testosterone-fueled, immature boy. He’s a confident, arousing, playful, and mind-melting man. But, behind that sexy charming smile, I know he’s hiding a secret. And, in order to break him, I’m going to need to find out what it is…

Review :

Another good story by Kelly Gendron about the DeClan Brothers, in this case mainly about Zeke who definetly is a character I will remember!

This book is a quite short read which is why it just took me one night to finish this read.
BUT the reason why I finished it that quick is not just because it´s such a short book.
Also I have to say, that in general I really enjoyed the story. It´s another unique story, especially about Zeke who really seems to be a special character. A character I really want to get to know more about as in my opinion this character has got even more potential which he could develop with adding more pages to the story. The second he starting f.i. quoting Oscar WIlde made me fall in love with him even more even though the origin of his passion is not explained enough in my opinion.
Lurlene as a contrast still is a really interesting character, but in my opinion not likeable enough. It seems like the only thing she has in her mind are to break Zeke´s rules while always mentioning the “being a virgin aspect”.
She is not deep enough, especially not in contrast to Zeke who has this past. The scenes during which she finally seems to show some emotions are not real enough for me which is one of the main reasons why I rated this book with just 3 instead of 5 Stars.
In general I think that it´s pretty difficult to develop such a story within just some pages compared to full-lenght novels. I am aware of that, I really am. But if you notice these kind of things while writing I feel like “Just give this characters more pages to tell his or her story!”.
Still, I really enjoyed this read and definetly want to read the whole series after I read Slate not long ago….
