He found me in blood and tears. I stayed with him through darkness and fire. We loved each other in the moment between innocence and bitter truth. We were the kids easily ignored, who grew into adults we hardly knew. We weren’t meant to last forever. And we didn’t. He ran away. I tried to move on. Yet I never stopped thinking about the boy who had fought to keep me alive in a world that would have swallowed me whole. He was the past that I buried, but never forgot. Until the day I found him again, years after believing I had lost him forever. And in cold, resentful eyes, I saw the heart of the man who had been everything when I had nothing at all. So I vowed to hold onto the second chance that was stolen from the children we had been. Sometimes fate is ugly. Life can be twisted. And who we are can be ruined by who we once were. For two people who had survived so much, we would have to learn how to hold on before we were forced to let go.

Review :

I admit – I read the name A. Meredith Walters on a Book cover and it is only for the sake of appearance that I have to check on the blurb. So far I have not seen a blurb that did NOT speak to me.

To be more precise – I am still looking for a book by her that I do NOT like – because then finally I am on my way to give her the title “Favorite Author” …(yeah strange me I know)
I am wondering how I can describe my feelings about “One Day Soon” without giving away spoilers. There is not even another author or book I could compare it too.
It is so unique in it’s plot. But I should not have been surprised by that, as the author always pays so much attention to the details including the naming of the leading characters. Everything is unique even the end.
It kept me hoping and praying … and I am honest – I did not fully get the last pages when I read them the first time – I had to re-read to be sure. – but the end is all that counts.
Still I wonder … as this is apparently planned as a series … and there is a slight mention of “another story” – was that only in reference to the stories that were told during this book … or actually a reference to the next book.
Please enjoy those unique characters as much as I did
