The sickness came on suddenly and violently. When it was done, waitress Blue Michaels was different in a really strange way. And the entire town of Glory was dead…except for her. Only that’s not exactly true. A handful of people made it, including U.S. Army Specialist Seth Campbell, who was caught in the wrong town at the worst time. He’s fierce and protective, and way too good-looking. As much as they need a leader—as much as Blue wants to trust him—there are too many questions and not enough time for answers. Now they are hunted. But what their pursuers don’t know is each of them has strange new powers. And they’ll use their “gifts” to survive…no matter who stands in their way.

Review :

When I requested “Altered” by Marnee Blake I did not expect to getting a kind of post apocalyptical book. While the writing is good and the character development is excellent it did not fully appeal to me because of this post apocalyptical feeling it brought to me.

I expected a more Sci-Fi approach to the subject but was reminded of a more Stephen King kind of setting. Which is actually not a bad thing if you expect it …As far as I know this is a debut novel from this author and I believe it is an excellent one, even if the setting was not fully to my liking.
I bet that there will be tons of readers out there loving it, if just the Blurb gave you more hints to the actual setting they will find. I really liked the authors approach on creating a set of strong leads instead of just one – at least I felt that they all had their strong sides to them.
The book has no actual end or cliffhanger, which is a thing I honestly would like to know before starting my reading as I would like to know if I sign myself up to yet another series.
But if you do not mind a new series on your shelf and are interested in a kind of Post apocalyptical contemporary romance (I think I just created a new genre #laughing) – well THIS is your book.
