It’s the start of nothing good.I fired off a storm of raunchy text messages…to the wrong number.
And he replied.
Him: Show me a picture.
Him: Tell me your name.
Why does the lure of anonymity have me craving to indulge a stranger?
It’s the start of everything right.
I received a slew of text messages…when everything in my life was wrong.
And she made me laugh again.
Her: You’re probably a creeper.
Her: Possibly a stalker.
Why do I have the overwhelming need to find this stranger who saved me and make her mine?
Him: Take a chance with me.
Her: This is crazy.
Him: I need to see you.
Her: What are we doing?
Him: We’re about to find out.

Its been a real long time since I read a book that was just pure fun. I smiled through most of thos silly testmessages. The story has just enough depth to pull off the romance part and more than enough to be a fun and easy read. PLEASE enjoy…

Blackstone (Four Fathers #1) by J.D. Hollyfield is not exactly the first book by this author that I read, as I read AND LOVED “Text 2 Lovers” (2 Lovers #1) that was co-authored by both K. Webster and J.D. Hollyfield.
So color me surprised by my reaction to Blackstone. Seeing the raving reviews from other reviewers – I assume I am the odd one out here. I apologize upfront for my totally different view but a review & rating needs to be honest.
I loved the storyline – there is no way around that fact. Also the basics as the characters were described were just great. The female lead was a little over the top in a chaotic but still likeable way. And the male lead was just that kind of tortured damaged character that I absolutely love.
So much for the theory. But than reality hit
The male lead was an asshole of epic proportions (sorry for that word – I usually try not to curse in my reviews but sometimes there is no way around it to bring my point across). I get that most of the book characters I love usually start out at just that – so despite of having that certain feeling in my guts – I went on reading past my 3 chapter rule. Thinking – he will show his redeeming qualities at a certain point. They always do – right? Especially when a plot seems this good … right ?
Unfortunately, this time that assumption was wrong … until the last page he remained just what he was from the beginning. I really had a hard time believing what I was reading. He really had everything he needed to be the next book boyfriend …
I can not go into the details because of my own spoiler rules but please be assured my opinion about him had nothing to do with him being an alpha male (I love Jodi Ellen Malpas character Jesse Ward and it can not get any more demanding than him). And I also have no issues with the fact that he “obsesses over things” as the blurb calls it (hell I loved Split by J.B. Salsbury and it can not get any stranger than that) – No it was simply the man he was that was not likeable on top of all of that. Its really hard to describe but I guess this is just one of these book characters that you are either going to love or hate and well seems I fall into the later category
I apologize again for being the odd one out there and as I said I truly loved the plotline and the idea of the characters. But it was just like when a book is being turned into a movie … I think the director choose the wrong actor for me to fill the role …

Andie: I hate you.
Roman: I know…but I’m going to change that.
When I read Text 2 lovers I immediately knew that there would be a second book, simply because the secondary characters were to well crafted to simply forget about them.
Please do not try to read this book as a standalone. While the story itself will work – you will feel better and know the characters much more after you read the first book.
But to be honest I wasn’t sure I was going to like the second book. Because Andie – our female lead in Hate 2 lovers was simply just as the title of the second book. The only emotion that I could grasp from her was hate. A
nd watching her as a secondary character was just as annoying as it was intriguing and I actually started to feel sorry for Roman.
And on that note I started reading “Hate 2 lovers” – well and actually #laughing nothing changed for me. I really did not like Andie BUT she was a great character and very fitting for the role.
I know that line I just wrote sounds like I am making not much sense. But you will understand once you read the book.
Gosh – Roman really has his work cut out for him.
In the beginning I wasn’t sure where the story was going but after a while the story really gained speed and the authors added some suspense into it and poor Roman still had his hands full. (me still laughing)
Anyway the writing style of those two authors is so spunky that there will not be a dull moment when Andie is involved. Oh and don’t worry you will again meet our characters from the first book.
Enjoy the ride…

Four Fathers Series by bestselling authors
J.D. Hollyfield, Dani René, K Webster, and Ker Dukey
Four genres.
Four bestselling authors.
Four different stories.
Four weeks in April.
One intense, sexy, thrilling ride from beginning to end!
Being Sunday, I decide to take a break from memory lane. I snatch a worn historical romance paperback from Gran’s bookshelf and slide into my brand new white bikini. Grabbing my towel and a Mike’s Hard Lemonade from the fridge, I head out back.
The sun feels amazing on my skin. I inhale the breeze, tasting the salt of the ocean on my tongue. I drop my towel on the lawn chair and get comfortable. My shades are down, and my book is ready to be dominated.
“This is nice,” I hum to myself, lifting my lemonade and taking a nice sip.
And out it all repels as I spit and choke on it.
“Jeeeesus Christ.”
I knock my sunglasses halfway down my nose as my eyes threaten to fall out of their sockets. Where in holy heavens did he come from? The half-naked man leaning on his balcony across the way. My tongue about falls out of my mouth. Is that Numbers? And holy shit, when did he get so much muscle? I’d call him fit, but that’s not fit. That’s like, “Hi, I eat muscle for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and now I’m just all muscle.”
I wipe at my chin, unsure whether it’s lemonade splatter or I’m drooling. I’m probably drooling. I wasn’t paying attention to much of him yesterday when he was acting all crazy on my front step. I just wanted him gone. To be honest, while he was babbling, I was trying to dig in the back of my brain for my old high school karate moves in case he tried something on me. Looking at him now, I wish he had.
He lifts his hand, threading his large hand through his hair and dragging his fingers down his hard chest covered in a dusting of hair. “Oh boy, where’s that hand going?” I mumble, licking my lips. Oh yeah. I see where this is going. Yep, oh yeah… Did I just moan?
Oh, hell yeah I did, but it’s so worth it. His hand dips down into his board shorts and he adjusts himself. Feel free to pull them down. Show us the goods, I think, mentally visualizing just how big his junk is. He’s a pretty big guy. Big hands. Theory says, and all.
Watching him fondle himself in all his hot glory, my curiosity piques. How old is he really? He sure had a reason to take offense by my calling him old. He certainly doesn’t look old. He surely looks a zillion times hotter than Jimmy, and he was only twenty-eight. I’m not an age wizard, but if I had to guess, I’d say late thirties, early forties. Definitely a bit out of my age range. Why? No idea. No real reason screaming stay away. Well, besides the major one being he wants to evict me, tear down my Gran’s life of memories, and probably build a gym in its place.
Yeah, that’s a good enough reason.
It also reminds me it’s the guys who look appealing on the outside that usually turn out to be dicks on the inside.
