His Lover To Protect
Katee Robert
Out of Uniform #3
4 Stars
Alexis Yeung did everything right….only to watch everything go horribly, horribly wrong. Broken and angry, Alexis high-tails it to Europe, determined to face the world on her own terms and without consequence. Which includes a mind-blowing night with a sexy, scarred stranger.Except, embittered former pararescuer Luke Jackson isn’t exactly a stranger. He’s supposed to keep an eye on Alexis without her knowing. Ending up in bed together was definitely not the plan. Now he’s chasing her (admittedly hot) ass across Europe, a game of cat and mouse that always ends with the two of them tangled up in the sheets. Something in their scarred, damaged souls calls to each other. And God help them, the sex in unbelievably hot. But if Alexis discovers who Luke really is, he’ll lose the one thing that makes him feel whole… Alexis Yeung did everything right….only to watch everything go horribly, horribly wrong. Alexis and Luke from âHis Lover to Protectâ were a great pair. Their dialogues were simply great and the chemistry between them was tactile. This was my first novel by Katee Robert and I really like her style. The story flows at a great pace and the characters are well developed. The reader could really feel for Alexisâ wish to âget awayâ and Lukeâs struggle between this âjobâ to watch over her and his developing feelings for her. This book was a really good and fast read that I would like to recommend.

The Secret Fire
CJ Daugherty
The Secret Fire #1)
4 Stars
Sacha Winters canât die. Until his eighteenth birthday he is invincible. On that day it all ends for Sacha â the result of a curse that has plagued his family for centuries. His death will fulfil the curse â and unleash a wave of destruction. He has no idea how to stop it, only the cryptic notes left behind by his father, and a strange connection with a girl he has only just met to guide him.Taylor Montclair is a quiet, studious girl focused on her dream of getting into Oxford University. Sheâs also the only one who can save Sacha. Only neither of them knows that yet. And Sacha lives hundreds of miles away, in Paris.Taylor and Sacha have eight weeks to find each other. To unravel the secrets buried in their familiesâ past. And to discover the power that lies within them.Sachaâs life, and the fate of the world depends on it. The clock starts NOW.
I am not sure myself if this is a warning or a recommendation to other readers. I guess it depends on your point of view. If you intend to read âThe Secret Fireâ by C.J. Daugherty be aware that it is filled with tons of cliché stuff. Is that bad ? well depends â many readers look for just that â they read a certain book⦠love it and try to copy the feeling they experienced when reading that book to as many other novels as possible. I admit â I read the Blurb and when I picked up this book I had a certain set of ideas what those clichés should be and they all became true, so honestly I was not disappointed because it was exactly what I wanted to read at that point. IF on the other hand you are looking for something new or fresh â this might not be your novel â even if certain aspects of the story were indeed fresh. The majority was good and solid BUT familiar plot. Anyway >I< can recommend this story as a good and solid read. So read the Blurb and if you like similar plotâs I am sure you will like this one as well.

Delayed Penalty
Sophia Henry
Pilots Hockey, #1
2 Stars
She closed her heart long ago. He just wants to open her mind. For fans of Toni Aleo and Sawyer Bennett, the debut of Sophia Henry’s red-hot Detroit Pilots series introduces a hockey team full of complicated men who fight for love. Auden Berezin is used to losing people: her father, her mother, her first love. Now, just when she believes those childhood wounds are finally healing, she loses something else: the soccer scholarship that was her ticket to college. Scrambling to earn tuition money, she’s relieved to find a gig translating for a Russian minor-league hockey playerâuntil she realizes that he’s the same dangerously sexy jerk who propositioned her at the bar the night before. Equal parts muscle and scar tissue, Aleksandr Varenkov knows about trauma. Maybe that’s what draws him to Auden. He also lost his family too young, and he channeled the pain into his passions: first hockey, then vodka and women. But all that seems to just melt away the instant he kisses Auden and feels a jolt of desire as sudden and surprising as a hard check on the ice. After everything she’s been through, Auden can’t bring herself to trust any man, let alone a hot-headed puck jockey with a bad reputation. Aleksandr just hopes she’ll give him a chanceâlong enough to prove he’s finally met the one who makes him want to change.
I have really big problems in writing a review on Delayed Penalty by Sophia Henry. Because no matter how I look at it â I cannot find an actual storyline.
