Happily Letter After

Happily Letter After

 Vi Keeland , Penelope Ward
October 20th 2020

y love story all started with a letter.

Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter.  A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for.

You see, once a year, my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months.

So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far.

While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father. Her devastatingly handsome, single dad father.

I should have stopped playing fairy godmother then. I should have left well enough alone. But I just couldn’t help myself.  I had a connection to this girl. One that had me acting irrationally.

Like showing up on their doorstep.

Sadie, you know that what you were doing was a very bad idea …. but gosh I – as a reader can fully understand why you did it. Oh, and the word you were looking for is “Betrüger” – so yeah not a great idea … but as I said I fully understand how it happened …

Vi and Penelope made you do it – you didn’t stand a chance against these two – when they pick up their pens – the book character has no choice but to follow them on a wild ride.

This time it was like that movie – with the skyscraper – where the father is …. ahm – no actually I am not going to further follow that thought out loud because – while there might be similarities – this here is probably what the book would have been before they made it into that film – because it is soooo much better … hahahahha

Still, this book was somehow a more quiet version of the writing we are used to from these two authors – it had almost a feeling of reflection to me – I can not describe it any better.

The banter we are always looking forward to was there just different and maybe not as much or as loud.

Maybe it was the touch of Christmas I felt … not sure … but the whole setting made me feel warm inside – and I think that’s actually a great thing right now.

I loved both characters a lot – but to say this book had only two leads – would do all the other characters in this book injustice as the secondary characters here were also really great. –

May I complain about one thing? I have to say I miss the special appearances of certain “things” …. and I would love to have them back at the end of the stories as they were like a connection that always made me remember very fondly my first meeting with the characters from their joined pen power… I am not sure if this is a spoiler …. so I will not be goating you any further …. #innocent look…

In total, I am fully convinced that lovers of this writing duo will adore this book. I would suggest buying the book and maybe to start reading it a little closer to Christmas … on a cold weekend when you have some time for undisturbed reading … under a blanket with some tea or coffee and cookies … – yes you will def crave cookies…
