| I had a good feeling when Aisling Magic approached me about reading this debut. There is no specific reason for that except the plot spoke to me. I requested some further information to clear up some points where I worried about the plot direction. (Yes in some cases I actually am that kind of reader that wants to know where the story is going and I have tons of used tissues from certain other novels that will tell you I am right to do so)
And I felt totally prepared to read the book. then the story happened …. Well now that I wrote it like that I know that sounds like a bad thing – but please check again … I rated this book with five stars ….. So this is actually more me being shocked … I never expected this debut to be this well-developed … Dear Author, even Colleen Hoover’s first books showed room for improvement – where are you planning to go with the next books? It would probably be better to release them under a new author name or so (just joking) because if the readers have the same expectations for the next novel you are bound to feel the pressure. The plot of Silent Music is heartbreaking and still full of hope. Is it realistic? You ask … well does it have to be ? I would ask back… It is full of love and beautiful developed characters. It is about never loosing hope even if the situation looks hopeless I would love to tell you details about the plot but actually that would take away from the story and that would be unfair (I was already unfair asking the author a ton of questions before #insert eye roll) If you like the plots I usually rate with 5 stars and you like this plot than you should simply go for it and read this book – it will be worth it and I know that it made me remember why I started blogging in the first place … I love reading this kind of debuts – Please give me more …. Originally being a Blogger was all about discovering young new authors that wanted their debut novel to be read. But with the self-publishing / indie market growing – reading and reviewing debut authors became a struggle. From authors not acknowledging what you offer to read (theme- / interest wise) and requesting you to read genre’s you do not like. Answering countless question about the process of promoting a book and then never hearing of the author again when it comes to the actual reading of the book and then To being misunderstood as Beta Reader or free of charge Editor. And then there are books like Silent Music ….and they remind me why I started with all of this 🙂
