Not now.

Review : Have you ever read a book by Leddy Harper ?

No ? well you are missing out on something…

Yes ? well than you can imagine what I went through when I read “Resuscitate Me”

The last book I read by this author was “Lust” and to say her writing style (plotwise) is unusual would be an understatement.

So I had a pretty good Idea of what to expect. And that was basically “expect the unexpected”.

So I was not surprised at all that (and now hold on for the explanation) … I really liked the book because I hated the male lead.

That should give you something to think about right ?…

As a reviewer you reach a certain point where you think you read it all. And every new book you encounter is only a variation of something you read several times before. And then comes a book like this.

A book where the female lead seems to be a glutton for punishment.

Where the male is so annoying you want to throw the book out of the window ( haven’t felt like this in a long time – the last guy was Jesse Ward “This Man” by Jodi Ellen Malpas )

And then there is this relationship which you can as outsider only describe as the epitome of toxic. That kind where you expect the selfish streaks of the male lead to turn violent at any minute. Yet it never happens so no worries.

Then I thought ok there must be something behind his behavior and a reason he cannot (as the Blurb says) “reciprocate her feelings” and I was waiting for a revelation of some kind. Maybe that he is somewhere on a scale of autism, something like Asperger’s (because that would have explained so much and would have allowed me as a reader to approach my feelings about him differently).

But it never happened.

And while all this wondering I was still following this story. I could not put it down.

Carter annoyed me to the point of actually hating him.

He was sweet and in the next second the King of Assholes. Then he was confusing, suddenly selfish and the next second I felt so sorry for him.

There where a whiplash of emotions from me for a guy who seemed to be above feelings … until … a certain event … and even then he still remained being selfish, ornery and insulting. I can not remember one point where I could say “I loved what he did” ..

I could not put the book down and was thinking “Who would want that kind of toxic relationship with a guy” he seemed to be a kind of addiction to her.

And somehow I got it … I hated him almost until the very end but still I kind of understood where she was coming from.

Sounds crazy I know but well the whole story was like that so why should I sound any different.

Great Plotline – well written – good job Leddy Harper
