Fall in love with the Wards…

From troubled teen to successful general contractor, Jake Nichols turned his life around from his time in foster care. Divorced and single, he juggles his time between his daughter and his work. Next on his agenda, a new project that is his chance to prove his worth at the job he loves. Except he never anticipates that the only girl he’s ever loved and lost as a teen is now a grown and beautiful woman in charge of the project.

Phoebe Ward has survived and conquered a painful past that includes foster care and becoming a teenaged mom. She wants nothing more than to focus on the present but it’s hard when she looks into the eyes of her son, knowing she’s tried and failed to find his father. She’s resigned herself to raising him alone with the help of her family… Until a client meeting brings her face to face with her first love. A boy… now a sexy man she thought she’d never see again … and the father of her child.

So many years have gone by and both of their lives have changed drastically. Will they be able to put the past behind them and find the second chance they both deserve?

3.5

Breathe has a feel-good vibe to it with low angst and great characters.

Phoebe Ward was taken out of foster care by her Aunt at the time she didn’t realise that she was pregnant, her Aunt Joy was her rock and eleven years later she has a strong career in real estate but the one thing she could never forget was the father of her son.

I like Phoebe, she is strong, although reserved she has a heart of gold, she can stick up for herself towards others and never backs down. She should take her own advice though.

Jake Nichols kicked out of the foster home and it was a steep decline from there. In prison for assault and battery. But now after dealing with his problems he has established himself in his life as a contractor. He made some mistakes in life, but everybody deserves a second chance.

I liked Jake more than I like Phoebe. He is overprotective with Phoebe and his daughter. He is kind and an all-around good guy.

Sometimes fate has a way of stepping in and brings these half souls back to one another to be reunited. When Phoebe is to sell a property but beforehand it is to be renovated by Jake. There are some difficulties as Jake was previously married and has a six-year-old daughter which Phoebe must deal with, it hurts but she is an adult about.

The writing is flawless and the story flows well without any bumps in it. This is a sweet and sexy read where I enjoyed the hell out of this book. There is mild angst where Aunt Joy didn’t quite tell the truth and Phoebe has some insecurities to deal with.

I can’t quite give it 5 stars as although they had something strong as teenagers and life got in the way, they kind of pick off exactly where they left off. Although the past was discussed and as time progresses, I had the feeling that time flew when they got together. It felt like a week but when calculating it all it was 2-3 months instead.

I read the sample of Freed and love it.
