This book has been a long time coming. As book one was exceptional to most of us I think are expectations are extremely high. This is the continuation of Makenna and Cayden’s love. It is set two months later after they meet in the elevator.
Makenna and Cayden are going strong and as a couple I loved them together. Makenna is so very understanding. I would have liked her to at least flip a bit. But then again towards Cayden that would have been the wrong thing to do. Makenna was great in this book and I loved her. Her love for Cayden was strong.
It was time to meet Makenna’s family for Thanksgiving which was hard for Cayden but he did manage, everything went relatively smoothly. But her brother Ian had the ingenious idea to invite her ex, Cameron as well. They were to be married and he wanted Makenna to give up her job to support him in becoming a surgeon. Ah, that would be a big fat no!
Then the idiot thinks that after three years of no contact that he should declare his undying love to her just because Makenna has moved on? Not only has that he asked her to marry him. Really what are you stupid? There is a big fat sign that, that ship has sailed. Makenna’s brother should have just been happy for her and I really didn’t get what is problem was. Clue me in if anyone knows why he acted like a prat.
Cayden has suffered from PTSD since the accident where he lost his brother and mother. That same day his father died himself inside leaving Cayden to fend for himself. He lacks self confidence in the relationship and shit goes to hell. He thinks that he isn’t enough even when Makenna tells him that she loves her and that they should move in together.
While I was reading this book I checked out some reviews and one was that they thought that Cayden had too many issues. Every person has the right to their opinion but I would like to say that he had PTSD that also made him slip in to clinical depression. It is a tough hole to climb out of again.
I got the happily ever after that I wanted to satisfy me with this two part book. But I reckon it won’t be for everyone.
The one thing that did bother me was that the scene should have been written in where Makenna tells Cameron to go shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.
