Goodreads review

Voted Most Likely to Succeed, Melanie Bartlett ended up anything but. The down-on-her-luck single mom wants a complete do-over—is that too much to ask? With her family long gone from River Bend, strong, independent Mel is as surprised as anyone to end up in the quaint small town she once called home. But with her friends, Jo and Zoe, by her side, and a comfortable room at Miss Gina’s quirky bed-and-breakfast, she just might have turned the corner on a new life.

Wyatt Gibson never liked the big city. River Bend suits the ruggedly handsome builder just fine. Wyatt knows he’s home, even if that means being charmed by the appearance of Melanie and her spunky, adorable daughter. Is Wyatt’s calm devotion—even amid a coming storm—enough to convince Mel she may have found a home to call her own, a family that never leaves, and a true love to last a lifetime?

Every time I read to review, or get an ARC I always wonder about my rating. Am I give it X amount of stars because it was given to me? Am I being more generous? What will happen if I give less than 3 stars? To answer the questions, no I think I am a fair reviewer, I use images to portrait how I feel, sometimes I think I’m being too generous but I also feel as if I’m being honest. I do post books with less than 3 stars and so far, knock on wood, no one has complained. Yet. I’ve probably jinxed it now.

3-3.5 Sir Knight Stars.

So what’s in your yearbook? What were/are you most likely to be/do?

I wanted to rule the world but like Brain I failed every. Single. Time. But I will succeed just need some pals to help.

The heroine in this book, Melanie is most likely to succeed, her other two best friends, JoAnne was most likely to go to prison and well Zoe was most likely never to leave River Bend. But Jo’s and Zoe’s stories shall be told another day or in this case in 2017. They made a promise that they would come back to their ten year reunion.

Ten years later.

Melanie Bartlett has a seven year old daughter, Hope & a car that died just before arriving in River Bend. She meets a stranger who wants to help her but thinks he is an escapee from Sing Sing or Jack the Ripper. Melanie has had it tough with what we read. She is strong, brave and made a stupid mistake when she was younger. She wants to change her life around.

Wyatt Gibson helps, sorry tries to help the damsels in distress but is having problems. Wyatt is the perfect book boyfriend out there.

What I liked about this book:

– I want to be Ms. Gina when I grow up!
– Hope the snarky and daughter older than she is for her years.
– The characters especially Wyatt & Luke.
– The plot with Nathan was good.

What I didn’t like

– One of the villains in the book having a certain preference, I personally think that was too much overkill. PM me if you want details.
– Zoe but I’m sure she’ll grow on me.
– I felt as if the plot with Nathan came out of nowhere but that could just be me.

I’ve read books by Ms. Bybee before and I loved the time travel series. I also read a contemporary romance but that was a bit meh, now Doing it Over seems to be romance with some suspense and I remember that in her other books there wasn’t so much angst as there was in this one.

I will read the next in the series as I think Ms. Bybee is very talented but I’ll stick to this series only.
