Reserved biochemist Ava Daniels has spent the last six months working on a top secret assignment for Homeland Security. One morning, after a night of finally letting loose, she discovers her lab empty and her boss missing. Interrogated by the very organization she works for, followed by unknowns, and attacked, Ava finds herself in search of answers as the clock winds down.

Aiden O’Connor, Irish born and raised, attempted to put his past behind him when he opened a bar in the heart of Boston. One night, Ava Daniels shows up to his bar asking for help. She is like no other woman he has ever met—breathtakingly beautiful, brilliant, and in terrible danger. Once he learns the true nature of her problem, Aiden realizes she is the key to unlock his

past . . . and perhaps to get a second chance.

Innocence & Betrayal, Book 2 of the Hidden Truths series, is a stand-alone novel that features appearances from some of your favourite characters in Book 1: Silenced Memories.

*Hidden Truths is a new romantic suspense series, which features ex-Marines in these stand-alone novels–no cliffhangers. To avoid spoilers though, it is recommended that the books be read in order, as characters make cameo appearances in other novels. Each book in the series is riddled with mystery and romance, as lies and corruption are unraveled to reveal the truth.

I have to admit that I wasn’t really interested in reading the first book but this book plot wise was more up my alley. This book can be read as a standalone although the characters from the first book appear in this book.

Some parts of the book confused me especially the beginning where it was hard to get into to understand what the feck was going on Aidan’ sudden twist in the story.

After my initial problems at the beginning and I can only recommend pushing through the first 8 % I really enjoyed it after that.

Ava is a bio chemist and has been working on solving a formula the past 6 months. Until the morning where she finds that the lab as up and disappeared and that Henry her boss also uped and disappeared.

Aidan isn’t what he appears to be in all of this. He is a pub owner on paper but has certain special talents. Ava goes to him  for help and as Henry is his uncle and he has some unfinished business he in the end decides to help.

This was an engaging story with great characters and there wasn’t a dull moment in this book but I can still only give it 3 Stars due to the confusion and that Aidan went to Michael Maddox (first book hero) for help and it was always Michael Maddox, the man of steel, the God of the universe will save the day. Ok well maybe not that bad but you get my drift.

I will read more by this author when more books come out. I’d like to see a book with Connor. I just hope that he doesn’t get paired up with Ava’s twin sister, Lily the model.
