(3) Pick up dry cleaning and food, consult on tie selection, make dinner reservations, and book flights . . . basically act as a wife-on-steroids.

(4) THE IMPORTANT ONE: Do not, under any circumstances, fall in love with Devon Scott—demanding boss, former NHL player, and all-around gorgeous specimen of the male persuasion.

 

Job performance:

Failing. Absolutely failing at number four.

An Anthology is a terrible thing to review!

Why ? you ask

 

… simply because of the fact that you only can give one rating even if you write your thoughts on each of the included stories separately

The Anthology “Block & Tackle” contains

Offsides by Elise Faber

Off Guard by Stephanie Fournet and

Off Limits by Kristin Vayden

 

And as it was the Blurb of “Offsides” that made me consider reading this collection in the first pace, I think it is fair if I only base my review on this book, especially because the Blurb of the other two books would not have made me pick them in the first case if they had been standalones.

 

Even though the story was lacking depth when it came to the character development it was a fun read. Because unfortunately short stories usually are missing out in this department there was no surprise here, as only very few stories can actually make it work without any amount of depth.

 

Taking this into consideration this was entertaining enough to keep me engaged. I think I would like to read a full novel by this author next, because a good short story works like an appetizer for me and I got hungry.

 

It was really interesting that the author managed to actually evoke feelings in a short story that were strong enough to reach me as a reader, for that alone this story is worth reading

 

The other two stories in this anthology were typical for their genre and length but as their blurb already did not appeal to me in the first place it would be unfair to say anything bad about them. I hope you will forgive me for that.

 

Anyway I think if you do not have the time or attention span to get infested in a full length novel. Or if you are looking for a new author and would like to judge their writing style first without getting to invested in a story that will not turn out for you? –

 

I think this anthology is a good way to test waters. It shows of different writing styles of 3 different authors and I am sure at least one of those books will appeal to you
