“Welcome to Conti’s. I’m Lia and I’ll nguhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.

I froze. Directly facing me was Olympic swimmer, Jay Morningstar… and I just made an idiot of myself.

The rest of the table looked up to see me standing there with my mouth practically gaping. His coach, who I recognized from TV interviews, and even two other swimmers from the Olympic team… they didn’t say anything, they didn’t even blink.

“Uh… I mean…”

I couldn’t even put together my words and Jay Morningstar was just staring at me with that Wheaties box smile and those icy blue eyes.

What was I supposed to say? Sorry I just made a weird noise, it’s just that I have a poster of you on my wall where you are wearing nothing more than your gold medals, a smile, and a pair of man panties?

It’s hot to feel the rush,
To brush the dangerous
I’m gonna run right to, to the edge with you
Where we can both fall far in love – Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga –

I really can’t remember how I stumbled across this book. I checked the author’s website out and saw that ARCs could be requested so I applied and got one.

For a change it is a romance with a swim theme so not your typical football, hockey etc. Which means that it is refreshing and different.

Jay Morningstar an Olympian swimmer who is trying to get back on the right track. He comes from Hollywood and he is one of the rich and famous. He is made out to be a dumb jock and with some of his escapades when he his fame get to him that it was the truth. He moves out to Friendship, Texas to concentrate on his swimming again. Until he finds something he likes more than swimming.

Rosalia ‘Lia’ Conti is socially awkward with no experience with boys/men, her Sicilian family is very overprotective. Her interactions with her family and generally her family were an absolute riot. Throw in a cheeky brother, a goat that shares crisps with her Nonna and a loud father and you’ll be laughing your arse off. She has insecurities and she lets everyone play on those insecurities.

There were a lot of things that irritated me about this book.

I felt like it had more of a YA feel to it than a NA but that could have been to the secondary characters Sofie, Scotty etc. because when the MCs where alone it a NA vibe to it.

Jay was a great Hero UNTIL he got back to L.A. for his sisters reality TV show marriage. Then he turned into an utter douchecanoe. I wanted to rip his bollocks off and make him eat them. Yes I feel very strongly about this as Lia was the one who suffered the most.

There was also a sweet epilogue included and I really hope that Sonny gets a book.

This book did suck me and I enjoyed every moment of it. So my personal feelings a side and the issues that I had it then deserves 4 Stars but due to the problems I had I would give it 3 Stars instead.

The foreword mentions how important this book is to her and I think that one can really tell.
