Everywhere Unraveled (Foundlings Book 2)

Everywhere Unraveled
Foundlings #2

They told me I had to leave her.

They were right.

It doesn’t matter that she’s the first thing I think about every morning, and my last thought before I sleep.

It doesn’t matter that the moment my heart started beating was when I laid it at her feet.

As long as she’s around me, she’s in danger. I have to keep her away, keep her safe, before this storm overtakes us.

The truth is something she cannot know, should never know. Even if that means I’ll never see her again.

Everywhere Unraveled is a truly fitting title for the second book in the Foundlings series by Fiona Keane. It picks up directly where Nowhere Girl the first book in the series left the readers. Nowhere Girl placed this new to my author high in my lists as THE YA debut author of 2017 for me. Ms. Keane’s writing style is intense and I am still not sure how she did it but she completely changed the tone from the first book to the second. Where the first book was a YA romance with characters struggling to find a way to each other, the second book has a totally different feeling (at least to me) .

Right from the first page I could feel Sophia’s confusion and Jameson’s desperation. Those two emotions were headlining many chapters of the book until the characters finally managed to crack the walls and had a chance to take actions. Interesting was that I could really feel those emotions as a reader.

Jameson is really the readers hero and I liked him in this book even more then I did in the first (if that is even possible) – however I was struggling with Sophia a little. AND don’t even get me started on the secondary characters. To have a final opinion on them I now need the full picture more than ever, so we will have to wait for the third book on that issue.

The story definitely leaves the High school YA romance genre and moves to something containing more suspense and I am really not sure where the journey is going. For now it feels that a lot of the mysteries were unraveled but I somehow do not trust the author (I am laughing while writing that) – She changed the tone of the series while maintaining the intensity of the story so who knows where the last book will lead us.

When I gave those 5 stars to the first book I made it clear that given the fact that it’s a trilogy my opinion on the complete series will not be fixed until the last book is released. So when it comes to Everywhere Unraveled the jury is out if it is a 4 or 5 star read. For the time being I will give it 4 stars because I need to see where the journey is going and just now I am not sure how I feel about this total change in the “tone” of the story.

Tap … tap … tap… <- my fingers (while I am waiting for the conclusion of this intense journey
