She gave me her kidney. I gave her my heart…

Nicholas Blake learned a long time ago that nobody does anything for free. He’s felt the pain of lies and manipulations enough times to know that people only look out for themselves, and that all good deeds come with a price. So when he wakes up from a near deadly car accident and finds out a stranger is offering to donate her kidney, he’s immediately suspicious of her intentions.

What he doesn’t expect is Iris Chamberlain, a beautiful woman with a big smile and an even bigger heart, claiming she just wants to help. The more time Nick spends with Iris, the more he starts to believe in what he always thought was impossible: a pure heart.

But betrayal leaves a bitter mark. Will Nick be able to let go of his past and let Iris in? And will Iris be able to show him what it truly means to have a pure heart?

Pure Hearts by Jeannine Allison was the first book by this author that I read. And I am pretty sure that I will pick up other books from her if their blurb appeals to me. Her writing is well developed and the characters are deeply developed.

Things I knew, Things I guessed and Things I never saw coming. Well my no-spoiler rule does not allow me to give away any of these things. But believe me there would be some stuff I could tell you.

First of all the Plotline in total is intriguing but the reader gets kind of thrown into it at the beginning and it took me a while to catch up on what was actually going on. Maybe that was the purpose otherwise I would have …(spoiler area so not going there)

Our male lead is interesting yet the author designed him a tad irritating too. I could not see where he was coming from at all times because I felt there was some background missing to me that was reveal at later times, maybe a prologue might have helped at that moment.

The female lead was truly PURE maybe also even a tad over the top, I know that was the intention to show a real purness of the heart but it was kind of hart to follow the line of thinking.

I might have seen stuff happening earlier if I hadn’t been paying attention the the wrong character but the storytwist went almost under the radar for how over the top some reactions in this story were. If people live and feel  with that kind of intensity there should be the same when things get hard.

But that is only me thinking out loud. In reality the plot is great and I am sure many people will rate this as 5 stars where I am only able to give 4, because in the end what counted for me was… nomatter how pure this story was it did not press all my “emotional buttons”

Still I feel the need to recommend this book to you because it will provide you with several hours of reading pleasure if you are not as fussy as me
