Driven. Private. Insanely talented.

Gray Blakewood is the most successful crime writer under the age of thirty—and he has a secret that could cost him his life.

He just wants to finish his latest novel before his world unravels, and the last thing he needs is a beautiful distraction.

Meredith Ryan, his new personal assistant, has seen more than her fair share of hard knocks.  And, still, she’s the sweetest person he’s ever met.

She deserves a lifetime of happiness—which he can’t offer.

But he can’t seem to stay away.

She shares her home with her husband John and her daughter Hannah, their needy dogs Gladys and Mabel, and an immortal blue finch named Baby Blue.
When she isn’t writing romance novels, she is usually helping students get into college or running.

I am at about 20% into “YOU FIRST” by Stephanie Fournet and my
thoughts linger around a certain other book that I read a while ago. A
book that even though the story was also as lined up with al the
possible outcomes and still managed to destroy me emotionally for days.
I
was wondering if I would spoiler anything if I mentioned the name of
the other book when writing the review AFTER finishing the story ,
therefore I specifically mention here that I am honestly only into the
story for about 20 %.
I do not know the outcome and I believe it
is save to say without spoilers from the blurb that I find a lot of
Jojo Moyes “Me before you” in this story.
At least the author is on a good way to built up a lot of emotions and potential for heartache along the way.
So
far I only read one book by this author and I was not able to connect
with the characters of that book. I am already sure that I will not have
that problem here. The characters are remarkable. Even if I cannot
totally follow Meredith’s reasoning concerning her living arrangements
(up to a certain point I can)
Now the next question is … will the
story also destroy me ? The writing style so far for sure has the
ability so lets wait on the outcome. But I warn you – I will do my best
to disguise my thoughts and feelings over the so far potential outcome
of the story

Here I am back again 24 hours later…
after finishing the book now. As I said when I read my first book by
this author I could not feel the leading characters – but here – god …
there was almost to much feeling (kidding – it was perfect).
I
will not go into the thoughts I mentioned first again – just know that I
felt a LOT while reading this book. I liked the building relationship
between the characters and I felt it was believable in its progress,
even if the actual time that passed between them was rather short.
This is a real accomplishment to make a story not feel like an InstaLove even if it actually should be one.
There
were so many sarcastic comments in their dialogues and texts that made
me laugh, despite the circumstances and I loved that both stayed true to
themselves from beginning to end.
I have read many novels that
tend to the facts that are subject in this book but this is by far the
most impressive love development (hard to describe it without spoilers)
the reader gets when the story gets to a close.
Great story – well developed and VERY well written
In
total the author deserved the 5 stars this time and if she continues to
write this way, she can be sure to be in line with my favorite GoTo
Authors in future
