Before I even met Donovan Decker, I knew his shoe size.
You see, I’d gone away for a few days, and in my haste to get out of the airport, I’d grabbed the wrong suitcase.
After checking out the expensive footwear and tailored clothes, I dialed the number on the luggage tag hoping maybe Mister Big Spender might have my bag. A deep, velvety voice answered, and as luck would have it, he had my suitcase, too.
Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark.
He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. Donovan wasn’t just handsome with a panty-dropping voice. He was also funny, smart, and surprisingly down to earth for a man who wore seven-hundred-dollar shoes.
Did I mention he also did my laundry while I slept?
Definitely too good to be true.
So what did I do to repay him for his kindness?
I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.
My life was too complicated for such a great guy.
In the months that passed, I thought about Donovan often. But New York City had eight million people, so what were the chances I’d run into him? Then again, what were the chances I’d run into him a year later…when I’d just started dating his boss?
The Spark by Vi Keeland is by far my favourite from her. Well I say that about every book from this author, but this time it is really true. The story between Autumn and Donovan is full of emotions, love and struggle. You get no other chance than to be consumed by their love for each other, but at the same time you cry your eyes out. But let’s start at the beginning… We meet Autumn Wilde. I knew right from the beginning that her story is something special. She is a strong woman with some tragic background. I really had no idea how tragic… but she made it and I really admire her for that. I knew I couldn’t make through it. When you really lost your trust in something, it is very hard to trust again. That takes some courage. I love how courageous Autumn is and how she managed the situation. This is such a development through the story. Than we have Donovan. Damn… he really is some hot lookin’ sexy lawyer. I feel in love with him right in the first chapter. I think everybody needs someone like Donovan. So protective and strong, but also so nice and soft. He loves Autumn so much and he does everything to make this relationship work. My heart went out for Donovan. To sum this up… I cried, I laughed and I loved. This is a garantuee for reading a story from Vi Keeland. It is hot, sexy, heartbreaking and funny at the same time. If you haven’t read a book from Vi Keeland, I suggest you start with this one. And I mean… Look at the cover…. HOT!!! #nomorewordsneeded |

September 23rd 2019 |
It started out like any normal day.
Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway—one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident. Whoops! Yeah, so I didn’t get the position. The problem was, I really wanted it. No, I needed it. Anything to get me out of my current career and back into working with kids. So, even though Hollis LaCroix was as intimidating as he was devastatingly handsome, I went back to see him and begged for a chance. To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece. At least my attraction to him wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed. But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn’t that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game—don’t ask.) We continued to flirt without crossing the line—until it finally happened. This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right? Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs. Ours was one I didn’t see coming. |
I have one word for you and it is..-
*BAAAAAAAAAA* and I am laughing so hard … really SO SO hard… and I am not sorry at all….. and the story is not really funny – no it is actually rather sad. Am I not making sense? Well I suppose I am not … but rest assured if you loved previous books of the authors duo Ward/Keeland – well than you are going to love “Park Avenue Player” as well. I had the pleasure of meeting Vi Keeland in London last Saturday and where I might have been guessing before I am now pretty sure I know which parts of the books she is writing. Park Avenue Player is the perfect next book in their series with wonderful characters and I enjoyed every second. If our beloved Mary Poppins would have a 2.0 Version – it could be found in this book. Practically imperfect but perfect for this story. I must admit that was suspicious of a certain something and it turned out I was right – so to me guessing “it” (sorry being un-spoiler-ish vague on purpose) was not as difficult as it was in other previous books – but on the other hand … the results in the other books were not as devastating as here… #sniff (Enough said) The thing is I cannot say much more about the story and Vi’s/ Penelope’s writing is so good that even that leaves nothing left to say except “You will love this book” They always manage to bring together characters that should not work well with each other but somehow with their magic they make it seem effortless when all the puzzle pieces come together. And in-between a (in this specific book) rather sad story you find sparks of laughter as well as deep insights into the characters. As a reader you feel like you are being picked up personally – handed the book and it’s like the authors hold your hand while reading. It’s like you can feel the intensity the authors had while writing the plot … Oh and I just remembered I have another word I just remembered … *Underwear* and I am looking at Penelope when I say that …… (that one word should be enough when you read a certain book from her #laughing) |

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds.
I was starting to lose hope.
Until a knock at my door came and God answered my prayers.
Except…uh…wrong prayer, God.
I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion…just not as my roommate.
Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway.
While he was amusing and charismatic, I wouldn’t have been comfortable living with a man, so I regretfully declined.
Then cupcakes showed up at my door—freshly baked by Declan and just as sinfully delicious as he was.
You could say he was persistent.
I eventually folded. It wasn’t like I had another viable candidate anyway.
Plus, I was interested in someone else. And Declan was into another woman. So it wasn’t like anything would happen romantically.
After he moved in, the two of us became the best of friends. We even started to give each other advice on getting our crushes to notice us.
Eventually, Declan concocted an idea: we should pretend to be a couple to make our love interests jealous.
I was hesitant, but went along with it anyway. To my utter shock, his crazy plan worked.
Now I was dating the supposed man of my dreams, and my best friend had the woman of his.
But there was one problem.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Declan.
Those feelings we were trying to fake?
Yeah…I wasn’t pretending anymore.
Not Pretending Anymore by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland is a very fantastic story with a deep backround. It is something different than other storys from these two amazing woman. I mean every book from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland is crazy hazy amazing, but this one was very special to me.
I too have some phases in my life, where I suffer from depression and anxiety. And I know what it feels like to lose a person you love so dearly. So I could feel everything the characters felt. That is something special and unique. You often don’t get to read about a person that struggles with depression and anxiety in books. I don’t know why, but depression is normal like a headache, but people don’t and won’t talk about it. I love Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland for making me feel a bit normal, while reading this. Okay… wow… big emotinal breakout. Sorry… not sorry…. 😀 The story was really good and as funny as always. After reading some book sfrom these two, I might know, which passage Penelope wrote and which Vi. These two are fantastic together. They did an amazing job of capturing their personality and some scenes were just so perfect. I cried, I laughed and I love this story. I can’t wait for the next book from these two! |
