Book 2 in the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit. It is just as good as the first book. It picks up shortly after book one where Jules is visited by an old “school friend” for an extended stay in Monroe, Colorado.

Grace Robinson is on the run she was looking for the toilet but found something worse that she is trying to escape. The only job in Monroe is shovelling shit at the kennels. Grace had adjustment problems to her new life.

I found her to be quite whiney. But she pulls herself out of her pity party and makes the best out of a shitty situation. She finds her backbone throughout the book and realises that things can turn out for the better.

Hugh is recovering from a shotgun wound. He and his dog Lexi are out of commission and he hates every moment of it. So he becomes annoying to everyone around him and starts looking into the riddle that is Grace Robinson.

Hugh is a great Hero. Funny, protective and a big cuddly teddy bear.

The chemistry and the banter is there and I loved every moment of it.

“I’m sorry, but have we met?” His grin grew a predatory edge. “How could you not remember? It was only yesterday that our eyes locked and our souls recognized each other from hundreds of lives before.” “Maybe your soul confused mine for someone else’s?”

Plot wise the story kicked arse. Hugh has some trouble with a hit being out on him and Grace is on the run. At least Grace told Hugh what and who she was running from. I didn’t see the author bringing it altogether and keeping tight knit. She writes the story well and it is action packed with intense moments as well as light hearted moments.

I checked this book and the other reviews written and it seems to be like Marmite you either love it or you hate it. In this case I am an in-between-er.
