“Mr. Lexington, your seat is this way.” I look up to see Branson, black cigar pants fitted tightly around his powerful thighs, a red tie the color of my dress—as in, spot on, not a shade off. His hair is combed back, eyes sparkling with darkness as he takes me in. He ignores the usher, choosing instead to aim a death glare at Dominic. “You’re in my spot.” “No, he is not.” I roll my eyes. Have you ever read a book where you had the feeling that even though the leading characters might get their HEA – they would have been better off if they had never met?

Well – I found one just now … No matter how much I wanted – because let’s be honest everybody loves a good “beauty and the Beast” plot – I could not bring myself to even like the female lead one tiny bit.

Instead, I resented her more with every chapter I read and there was nothing there that could redeem her in my eyes. She was as shallow as any female queen bee antagonist in other books usually is.

No – stop – she was even worse – and probably according to my own rules I should rate this book with 5 stars because it made me feel – ANGER – but that was not the plan when I came up with those rules…
