It’s not easy being the bad guy.

Yeah, that’s a lie. It’s pretty damn simple. You act and you own it. You sell your soul to protect those you love and screw the rest.

It’s the restraint that’s hard. The demons that poke at your trigger, burn in your gut—just waiting for a second of freedom to unleash the fire in your soul.

Call me a villain. Call me whatever helps you sleep at night and feel good about the black and white of love. But watch your back because I don’t care. Until I do.

And then I implode.

Note: VIPER directly follows the action in Tracing Holland (NSB #2), but can also be read as a standalone.

Sweet as Sin by J.T. Geissinger

Title : Sweet as Sin
Author : J.T. Geissinger
Series : Bad Habit, #1
Rating : 4 Stars
Blurb : Twentysomething Kat Reid is loving life as an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist. She has absolutely no interest in rock ’n’ roll, but in order to pay the mortgage, she agrees to work on the set of a rock video for the world-famous rockers known as Bad Habit…which brings her face-to-face with Nico Nyx, lead singer of Bad Habit and Adonis in the flesh. However, the fiercely independent Kat isn’t impressed by the hard-living, womanizing rock star. But when Nico’s model girlfriend shows up to the set drunk and Kat is tapped to replace her as the video’s sexy bride, her combustible chemistry with Nico suddenly threatens to consume the set. Nico feels it, too—and becomes determined to win Kat over, body and soul. Yet behind his rock god swagger, Nico hides a dark secret. Can he rock Kat’s world forever, or will he just break her heart?
Review : If you are looking for a real hot rock star romance – you can stop searching because you came to the right place.
This book has it all – the typical setting, the perfect characters and the great chemistry. There is enough of everything in here to keep you entertained… A LOT.
Sure you will find some cliché in here as well but certain storys just do not work without that so it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I am afraid that I will say too much about the story so I will just say that the reader will find the complete range of emotions in this book, so be prepared for everything (in my case that would mean it includes the need for chocolate and tissues)
It was my first book of this author and it will def. not be my last.

Book 2 of the NSB Series. ** A 2016 RT Reviewers’ Choice Award Nominee **

Second chances are hard enough when you deserve them. Then there are the ones you don’t.

Callie asked if I was ready. And that’s the question, isn’t it? Ready for what? The spotlight? The music? Or ready for life. Ready to face the reality that what I was is going to attack the very fabric of who I am now. No one knows I’m a different person. Well, no one except the two most important people in my life, which is why there’s a remote chance I might actually pull off the comeback I never saw coming.

Then again, that was before Holland Drake crashed into my life. I didn’t ask for her. Heaven knows she didn’t ask for me. But sometimes it’s not about what makes sense; it’s about accepting that not everything will. It’s learning you have a choice when it feels like you don’t. It’s believing even the worst past can still have a future.

And sometimes it’s none of that. Sometimes it’s survival. A blind fight through the pain as you cling to any shred of hope you can find. And it’s those moments, those desperate pleas into the darkness for a flicker of light, when you have no choice but to confront the blessing that often feels like a curse:

You’re still alive. You’re still significant.

You’re once again Luke Craven, frontman for Night Shifts Black.

Rating : 4 Stars
Blurb : Physical therapist Annie Davidson is great at her job but unlucky when it comes to love. She’s just out of a bad relationship. A really bad relationship. All she can do is focus on work…that is until she runs into professional hockey player Alec O’Meara. She’s a touch insecure and doesn’t understand why he’s interested in her.Despite being one of the biggest players on the team, right wing Alec O’Meara prefers finesse over force. After the tragic death of his wife, he likes to keep things loose on and off the ice. But the red-headed Annie challenges his beliefs and makes him think about taking their relationship to the net.The passion and fun they share is addicting and makes them long for more. But her insecurities that she’s not good enough, and his anxiety over a long-term commitment will keep them apart, unless they can find a way to break through the defenses they’ve built around their hearts.
Review : Simmering Ice by Veronica Forand & Susan Scott Shelley is a heartbreaking novel about two people desperate to NOT fall in love again. It was a pure joy as a reader to follow their developing relationship despite the fact that they were avoiding having one – hard !The writing of this novel is flawless, fluent and at a steady pace. The reader simply has to enjoy this book – there is no avoiding that fact. Even though it is part of the Atlantic City Hustlers series it works perfectly as a standalone. In total – a very recommendable read.

His name is Luke. But nobody knows that. He was an iconic musician before he gave up music. But nobody knows that either. They also don’t know he’s twenty-seven, that he used to have an infectious laugh, and that he’s way too young to be widowed. They certainly don’t know the rest of his tragic story. All they know is that he comes into their café at the same time every morning and stares at the same chair at the same table. They know he’s strange. They know he interrupts their breakfast with a cold blast of air as he hovers in the doorway, mustering the courage to confront a piece of furniture.

No one asks why. No one cares. He’s fine with that. He’s done with life. This isn’t even his story anymore. It’s actually Callie’s, the young writer who sat in his chair one day.

Or is he just trying to protect her? And can she survive long enough to find out?
Review : Out of Character by Diana Miller is really a book just like its title. After so many “easy” romance novel it was such a nice change to read again a “good old suspense romance” . Finally a book that has his focus on a background story as well as on the story that is binding the characters.
Honestly – you release a movie to this one – I buy the ticketIt will be something in the line of “Transporter” or “Die Hard” just with more romance inside and featuring another main lead actor … something yummy…
Yeah I admit there were two small items along the way which I am sure I should not mention here – because I hate to spoiler any of the content and I think it’s only me because I am a freak when it comes to the details of a storyline and if something works out or not.
But my mood after reading this book was so good that even those small “things” couldn’t take a star away. I mean really there were one or two chapter endings that hat me shivering and send goosebumps along my arms … when I finally turned the page to the next chapter …
#lets say I was considering to have a intense discussion with the author about the serious side effects for my heart.
The writing was flawless and the story was fully developed – the characters were great and I am on my way to check out the other books from this author ….

Heartbreaker. Playboy. Reckless. Wild and Rough. Those are just a few of the names she’s called me, but I don’t care as long as I get what I want – her heart.

She deserves more than I can give. Problem is she’s all I want. The smart thing would be to stay away. And believe me I’ve tried. I’ve kept my distance for four years…and time’s up.

Isabelle Stewart is mine.

I’ve been a fighter my entire life, and I’m not afraid to fight dirty – especially for her.

A Glimpse of the Dream by L.A. Fiore

Title : A Glimpse of the Dream
Author : L.A. Fiore
Series : N/A
Rating : 5 Stars
Blurb : Teagan Harper is barely ten years old when she finds herself orphaned and sent away to live at Raven’s Peak, a Gothic estate on the seaside cliffs of Maine. Soon, though, her heartache and loneliness are tempered by a blossoming friendship with the only other child living at Raven’s Peak: Kane Doyle, only two years older than Teagan and abandoned by his mother. Over the years, the pair grows inseparable. First they’re pranksters and confidants, but eventually their feelings change, and best friends turn into soul mates. On the cusp of Teagan’s departure for a university in Boston, they share a glimpse into their happily-ever-after and make promises of forever. But Teagan and Kane’s engagement and dreams of the future are shattered when Teagan returns home to find Kane gone from Raven’s Peak—and living with someone new. Devastated and heartbroken, Teagan cuts ties with her beloved adoptive home and tries to move on with her life. But years later, when the shocking truth behind Kane’s betrayal comes to light, Teagan must decide whether to embrace her new life and let go of her past once and for all, or fight for her dream life with the only man she’s ever wanted.
Review : Teagan and Kane – wow … this book simply blew my mind.
I have no idea honestly how to write a review on this one.
First of all – it is not my first from this author so I was actually doing a happy dance when I saw I could read this as an ARC. I already knew I was probably going to love the authors writing style – but you never know if you like a plot right ?
And OMG – did I LOVE that plot … from the Blurb you would never imagine how the content was going to develop and when I felt I knew which way the story was going I got so excited to see how the author was going to pull the reader into it.
And she did it – she SO did it – (again I have to say).
L.A. Fiore is such an amazing author … surly one of my favorites – well OK I admit I got several favorites but only like 2or3 for each genre and in this specific genre I guess L.A. Fiore is side by side with Colleen Hoover.
There is no name for this kind of genre – at least not an official one like “contemporary romance” or so. It is more a way of writing style. The reader is drawn into a story and even though every story is totally different from the last (which is also a signature mark for their writing style) those authors have a way of capturing you every time.
You just see a new book coming and know you are going to love every minute of it. They manage to place a small surprise into the book and their way of writing gives you the feeling that even this small “thing” blows your mind.
In “A Glimpse of the Dream” it was actually 2 small things – one is among the storyline and would give to much away – but the other one is simply the fact that you read through the life of 2 people for about 20 years without even noticing the time.
The story just told itself and at one time I checked I had only read 50 % of the book – so I wondered what else could an author place inside this wonderful story that already felt so complete for another 50 % without ruining it – or going overboard ?
But this is the miracle of this authors writing – there are some books with good plots that loose themselves in the last chapters, or rush to the end – some even “overdose” and leave the readers with an “What the xxx did just happen here” feeling – but this book – no let me be specific – THIS AUTHOR – leaves you with a very intense feeling of being complete.
Please enjoy reading this book and all the others of this author 🙂 as much as I did and will continue to….

Title: Heist

Author: Beckett Riley
Genre: Erotic Romance, Menage
(Short Story – Under 15K words)
Release Date: July 3, 2020
Cover Design: Shashika2

Struggling bookshop owner, Josie lives a mundane life in a small town where the most eligible bachelor is a below-average Joe and the most happening place in town is a crummy bar called the Speckled Hen. She spends her days with the only things that bring her joy: books and prison shows on TV. On what would be a boring night like any other, she witnesses an ongoing bank robbery that will forever change her life.

Ten banks. Five years.

Brothers Ronan and Dagen are former marines turned bank robbers meticulously planning their early retirement. This last heist was supposed to be the easiest one yet, but when Josie shows up, their plans go into a tailspin and they have no other choice than to kidnap the gorgeous bookshop owner.

What’s a girl to do with two hot, convicted felons on the run?

As the hours go by, the trio begins to get friendly and let their guards down. The mutual desire growing between them is clear as day, throwing a wrench into the former felons’ plans. One thing is certain; neither three will ever be the same after this one night.

Ten small-town banks scattered through Middle America over the course of five years. Easy as fuck. This was our last job. Bank reserves are the minimal amounts of cash a bank must keep in hand in order to meet unexpected withdrawal demands. Why small-town banks? Early closing times and class M vaults. Class M’s are the easiest to break into. The standard time it takes most men to pull this off is fifteen minutes, which means I can do it in ten. This comes at a price though, these kinds of banks don’t keep large quantities of cash. Some big branches hold millions in their vaults, but smaller ones like this might hold around $200,000. This was definitely more work, but the chances of walking away scot-free were higher than targeting a large branch.

The last one was a joke. I grabbed the duffel bag with the explosive and a pair of bolt cutters for the pathetic-as-fuck folding scissor gate on the front door. My younger brother, Dagen, was the wheelman, so he always stayed in the car. I put on my ski mask, swung the duffel over my shoulder, and grabbed my assault rifle. Yeah, the rifle was overkill for a place like this, but I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

One snap of the lock and I was in. The silent alarm would go off the moment I opened that front door, so we had exactly ten minutes to get in and get out. Just so happens the land-whale of a sheriff and his cumstain deputy were just called out to a nonexistent car accident right outside city limits. It would take them ten minutes to drive out there, another five to realize there was no accident, and thirteen more to reach the bank when it was called in. That gave us an eighteen- minute head start.

In eighteen minutes, we would be long fucking gone.

I set up the homemade bomb on the vault. Six minutes later — boom! I was in and got to work filling the duffel bag. Nine minutes, done. Fuck yeah. I grabbed the rifle and headed out. I threw the bag onto the backseat and was about to climb into the passenger seat when I saw the girl staring directly at me and Dagen, who wasn’t wearing a mask. Fuck. My. Life. I guess she was closing that gay-ass looking book store and walked out at the same time I did. I’ll give her credit, she pretended not to see us and tried to lollygag away, but there was no way we could let her go.

Beckett loves writing short, erotic stories as much as she loves reading them. Happily ever afters and hot, possessive, guys bring tears of joy to her eyes so expect to see alpha males roaming her raunchy pages.

LA Fiore is a hybrid author who believes in a happily ever after, but she likes to make her readers work for it. When she’s not writing she can usually be found in the garden or hanging on the deck with her family and friends. She lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with her husband and two kids and their four fur babies.

Anthony started writing years ago as a hobby, but it quickly turned into a passion. He first began publishing under the name, Kane Caldwell, but has since changed the name he will continue publishing under. He is the epitome of a country boy with jeans, t-shirt, hat (No, not a cowboy hat. Lol), scruffy face, and work boots on, driving his truck and definitely not a guy you’d picture writing romance. Anthony works in the construction business where he runs his own crew. He has two awesome boys, and an amazing woman that keeps him on the edge. Anthony resides in the south where the weather is warm but most times sweltering hot. During down time, he loves to be surrounded by family, friends, great food, or engrossed in a good book. And of course, putting his imagination to work, where reality and fantasy collide.
