Wicked Torture (Stark World, #3)

Revisiting old friends. That’s how it felt to dive into the world of Stark Technologies again. Reading “Wicked Torture” Book 3 in the “Stark World” series by J. Kenner brings a lot of those characters back that we met and loved even if it is only as secondary or sidelined characters. Also, I see some potential for future books in the characters we have not yet met in detail. I loved the writing style of this author when I read the original Stark trilogy and nothing has changed that fact. The writing is solid and the characters are well developed.

So let’s take a look at my thoughts about the characters. Our female lead Kiki is likable and her background is developed great. And there is honestly not much else I could say about her as somehow her thoughts and actions simply float through the story so smooth.

On the other hand I struggeled with Noah. And when I say struggled that is a polite word for meaning I really did not like him very much.

The reader understands his loss as described in the blurb ( so no spoiler here) but his decisions leading him to that point might be honorable but still questionable in my very personal book. But again this issue is not only his cross to bear. There were two parties involved at that point and my very personal firm belief is that it’s better to stay alone than be the second choice – but hey that is only me and my very personal belief.

As for the plot well for me, there were no big surprises or plot twists hidden as I already kind of guessed some mayor things when I read the first chapters. But again others might think differently as I have a really vivid imagination that usually correctly leads me down the most twisted paths. So I would not be surprised if others were shocked at some of the more hidden agendas during this plot.

The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is my emotional involvement. I personally did not have a moment of real heartfelt emotion, that would have included tears or laughter, so in my book, I could not give the missing star.

The story is solid that much is sure and I can totally recommend it to lovers of everything Stark. So please enjoy 🙂
