I don’t remember.

A blank face. Unrecognizable. The darkness and impenetrable fog, day after day after day. Who am I? And for that matter, who is she?

I can’t remember.

Two sides to the same coin – one wants to remember, and the other wants to stay forgotten. Which side will win? Can he trust his heart to bring him back to her? Or will she stay lost in the fog forever?

I might never remember.

I have been coming across this authors name for quite a while now – always thinking I should try reading a book of hers.

So when the opportunity came to review this book – I directly went for it.

Is no secret that I am not a big fan of stories that are separated in alternating Before and After chapter. But because of the plot of this story it works for this book. The writing style is well developed and the characters feel equally developed.

To not give away too much of the story I have to keep it vague. I liked the story idea a lot and it was developed in a realistic way that lets the reader imagine that it might actually take place just like its told. But I have to admit if the characters would for the whole book be the ones from the before chapter, I think I would not have finished the book. Simply because I am not a big fan of the environment they were “living” in …. I have no problems reading about their favorite pastime (me being vague sorry) as long as it is a pastime – but everything in their life seemed to be around this issue. Even though at times the male lead obviously recognized that it was a problem.

My problem was that due to “this” I could not take his love declarations serious, because I could not judge if it was the “rose colored glasses” he wore or if he really was in love with the female lead.

The after chapters showed a male lead I very much liked and who felt believable for the situation he was in – yet he is in a relationship again with a female that feels off from the beginning on. I am not sure if that was the authors intention though. I assume it should have looked like a good thing at the beginning …

When the before and the after “world” of the characters start to merge. The story felt real to me with the exeption of the female from the after part. Her changes in behavior bordered on a mental problem ( sorry to be so blunt )

I really liked the male after this merger he grew with his struggle and was well written. As I said I am not a big fan of “before” and “after” books but here it really worked out and the story is really deeply developed. Especially the male lead is really great.

As for the author I am pretty sure now that I will go back to some of her older books that peeked my interest before. Because now I am sure I like her writing.
