From the bestselling author of The Secret of Ella and Micha comes a mesmerizing novel of fate, friendship, and the healing power of love . . .

THE COINCIDENCE OF CALLIE& KAYDEN

For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck — and his life — might finally end… until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him.

Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her.

When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it’s Callie who needs to be saved…

No Tomorrow

No Tomorrow

The people we love are thieves.
They steal our hearts. They steal our breath.
They steal our sanity.
And we let them.
Over and over and over again.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

They say you never forget your first time.
Mine was with a homeless musician who effed my brains out under a bridge.

He was my first love. And fourteen years later, I still can’t get him out of my head.

He broke all my rules.
He also broke my heart.

I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar.
But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.

Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake.

But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and ruined, needing it to be true.

You can’t go back, but I want to. Back to the bridge. Back to when he sang only for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.

I thought I knew everything about him.
But I could not have been more wrong.

He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.
And hoping.
Again.

✔✖ My Review Check List ✖✔

AKA significant signs for a good book

Here ? No Tomorrow by Carian Cole

  • (NOT WANTING TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN – WHICH INCLUDES CARRYING AN E-BOOK READER LITERALLY EVERYWHERE I GO, ALLNIGHT READING SESSIONS AND SNEAKING OUT OR IN PLACES INCLUDING TOILETS TO READ A FEW PAGES)

✔ – there is a def yes on that in this book. Every break almost physically hurt – I was reading while walking- in my lunchbreak (I am even now significantly thinking about my lunchbreak because of this book). I read in the night leaving me only 4 hours of sleep – just the bare minimum and I was cursing myself for not starting to read that book on a Friday night.  I would have been tempted to cancel my date the upcoming Friday – I guess this will teach me to be more careful – but honestly, I would have never expected that.

  • (TALKING WITH YOUR BOOK – NOMATTER WHERE YOU ARE AND WHO IS WATCHING YOU)

✔- I would have never guessed the how this book would make me act. I started rambling while reading with people around me- lucky they knew me and the way I get when reading.

  • (CRYING AND/OR LAUGHING – -OUT LOUD- NOMATTER WHERE YOU ARE)

✔ – yeah there is that …. I was sitting in my lunchbreak with colleagues around me and my eyes started to well up …. There is not much laughing in this book – no mam – but my throat closed and I felt like choking on more than one occasion – God this hurt ….I even have to blink several times now while writing this

  • (THE INTENSE FEELING OF WANTING TO PUNCH OR HUG A VIRTUAL CHARACTER IN REAL LIFE)

✔ – OH yes I wanted to punch someone here specifically the universe …. And If I could meet these characters I would hug them to death and tell them I am so sorry. I am not even sure why I am sorry I simply feel like that

  • (REMEMBERING THE PLOT/ THE AUTHOR / THINGS AND/OR CONVERTING CONTENT TO YOUR REAL LIFE)

✔- you can be sure – absolutely sure that this book will not leave me for the unforeseen future –

My Essence ?

Have you ever read a book and felt scared? Its that moment right in the middle of the book when it can go in any or no direction with the best or worst outcome and you feel like it would be better to not know what is going to happen rather than knowing the outcome is bad? Well this book is one of those books. So far every book I read from this author and there were several has been a deeply emotional 5 star ride and I think by now it is safe to say she is a def. a 1-click-read once you liked one of her books. I am pretty sure if you liked Storm, Talon , Tied or any of her other books you will love this one. It will hurt – oh yes it will – but her writing is beautiful it is like a train wreck – like the movie Titanic – you know that ship is sinking but you still cannot bring yourself to change the channel … THAT kind of hurt.

Dear Author thank you for sharing these wonderful characters with us – please continue to choose plots like this and never change how you write. Even if this book came so much later then expected it was worth the wait.

REVIEW : DIRTY HEADLINES by L.J. Shen

Dirty Headlines

DIRTY HEADLINES
L.J. Shen
September 7th 2018

Célian Laurent.
Manhattan royalty.
Notorious playboy.
Heir to a media empire.
…And my new boss.
I could have impressed him, if not for last month’s unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory—namely, his wallet.
Now he’s staring me down like I’m the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I’m supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith “Jude” Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Brooklyn girl.
Infamously quirky.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it’s my heart at stake, and I fear I’ll be raising the white flag.

I know I am repeating myself but still – here is my list of significant signs for a good book (not necessarily complete)

  • Not wanting to put the book down – which includes sneaking into toilets during parties to read a few pages ( #MeLaughing Penelope Ward totally “borrowed” that from me for her book – I AM JOKING- Kind of … sort of … well not sure who did it first )
  • Talking with your book – which includes being in open spaces with other people wondering what that weird women is doing
  • Crying and/or Laughing during reading – which includes (see above mentioned)
  • FINALLY … the intense feeling of wanting to punch or hug virtual characters in real life … either because you want to make them see what is right in front of them, comfort them or (and well there is no nice way to say it) because they are assholes.

Having that in Mind – let’s check “DIRTY HEADLINES” by L.J. Shen…

  • Not wanting to put the book down was a given – I mean it was an L.J. Shen book – you read one of hers ? you pretty much should know what I mean. Slowly she sneaked in and found her way into my all time favorite author list. And she def. keeps a “One –click –to – buy – without – checking – before” position in there too. I just checked and noticed that leaving a few anthology stories aside I read everything she ever released so far and only two books where on a 4 star – all the rest were 5stars. That is saying something. There is hardly any other author having such a clean high rating … trust me it is an honest rating too – no extra points because I got a book for free or anything.
  • Yes I found myself talking with the book – in this case especially repeating the hilarious conversations between the leads of this book. Ms. Shen I really wonder where you get your ideas for these dialogues from – they were just …(without words) and those “Jesus” thoughts …. Yeah these bring me to the next point
  • Which is the laughing/Crying part …. These “Jesus” thoughts – had me laughing so hard sometimes that there were even tears involved. Which completes this point because for me there was no actual ugly crying involved in this book.
  • When it comes to the intense feelings – well it evolved some pretty intense feelings but non of the plot needed ugly crying to be good in my opinion. Interesting enough where usually the plots of this author are more intense and maybe even a little darker? This one was lighter and caused by laughing – and I mean laughing because of the characters dialogues and not even so much about the plot. It is simply a masterpiece of great and tremendously well developed writing

My Essence ?

Pure and simple a great book with hilarious characters. In real life you probably would stay a mile away from a male lead like that but having insight into his mind like you have in this book makes it easy to like him. Dear Author if you keep up writing like that you will have an eternal fan here….

✔I might not have pulled an all-nighter with this one but still I had problems in putting it down – I wanted to get to the bottom of things. There was suspense that was pulling me back time and time again into the story

  • (TALKING WITH YOUR BOOK – NOMATTER WHERE YOU ARE AND WHO IS WATCHING YOU)

✔There wasn’t much reason to talk with this book it was more a loud thinking on the plot – the characters were more silent then others I read lately. But somehow that was the strength of this book.

  • (CRYING AND/OR LAUGHING – -OUT LOUD- NOMATTER WHERE YOU ARE)

✔Not much reason to laugh here if I am being honest. It is more on the thoughtful side of things but in this special case that really made no difference in the complete impression that book left with me

  • (THE INTENSE FEELING OF WANTING TO PUNCH OR HUG A VIRTUAL CHARACTER IN REAL LIFE)

✔There is a def. YES on the hugging part in this book. And there were lots of characters here that deserved one. And at least one I would have loved to punch – and not in the “punch some sense” way.

  • (REMEMBERING THE PLOT/ THE AUTHOR / THINGS AND/OR CONVERTING CONTENT TO YOUR REAL LIFE)

✔There is far too much “REAL” about this book to not remember it. It was my first book by this author and I directly checked on her older books. While most of them do not spark anything with me plot wise – there is one that I placed on my list and that is “Out of the Ashes (Out of #2)” – I will be reading that in near future and I will be sure to keep an eye on the next releases.

My Essence ?

This book holds a mirror to our faces – at least it did to me. In the way I look at people or even think about them. It is not easy to digest if you read it with that mirror in front of you but it’s a story that deserves to be told. The author wrapped it in a packing with suspense and well developed characters that simple make this book a great read.

Blurb : Silence is only skin deep. Nineteen year old Daniel Colton is the guy all the girls want to date, and the man all the guys want to be. Moody, with an explosive temper, closed off and sullen, he’s also beautiful, tatted in delicious ways, with a pierced eyebrow and spiky black hair. It’s rumoured he has piercings in other places, too. Is he really mad, bad and dangerous to know? Daniel lives with his older brother, Zef, and their home is party central. You want drugs, a good time, liquor, no questions asked? Colton’s is the place to go. When Daniel and good girl Lisanne Maclaine have to work together on an assignment, Lisanne finds there’s a lot more to the college’s bad boy than his reputation. He’s intelligent and funny and good company. And then she discovers his secret, why he’s so closed off to everyone, and determined to keep people at arms’ length. But being his secret-keeper is harder than she ever dreamed.

Recommended for readers 18+ due to sexual references and sex scenes, some coarse language, drug references and drug use.

Review : Wonderful read !

Eventhough it is totally different in content – I was kind of remindet of Colleen Hoovers – Maybe Someday – And I do not only mean that in reference to Daniel.
I was captured by the writing style and it pulled me deeper and deeper into the story.

Also I wonder what it is about “these” storys – I don’t like to spoiler about the “thing” they have in common – but lets say I found them on the same “listopia-list” (which by the way is something far more people need to use and place books and vote on them – it is such a useful tool)
Anyway – as I said I found them all in the same place and I once commented before that

– I thought that “Archers Voice” by Mia Sheridan had the “best first Kiss” that I ever read about so far in a novel…

– That would be followed by my opinion with “Maybe Someday” by Colleen Hoover – with the best “make out” ( I hope thats the right english expression 😀 ) – AND that wasn’t even supposed to BE a make out … (#gritting my teeth – its hard to explain without leaving spoilers

– Which brings me to a final the best “First SEX” described in a book so far for me and THIS I found here ….

The emotion of the moment was captured and brought to paper. I could feel my own heart beating during the reading of those moments and I belived what i read – and this is what it is all about ! isn’t it ?

I could say so much more but it all would give away to much of the story – I always find it soo hard to review books without telling to much.
A review sounds always so distant and without emotion if you do not spoiler :-(…

Anyway – every Person reading and liking one of the above three books I can only recommend to read the other two also – as each one of them has it’s own beauty.

And I just remembered I need to check if there are other books of that auther 😀
#ByeBye

Blurb : I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk. Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.  Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to. The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.

Review :

I am still under the shock of reading the last line …
O M G….

This is one of the most intense books I have ever read
My feelings are all over the place…

The last time I felt even remotly similar – eventhough due to a totally different reason – was when I read “JoJo Moyes” – “Me before you”

And this last line – I wish I could say truthfully

“HA – I knew it” – and looking back I SHOULD have known it – but honestly …

with all that was going on – that one totally got lost on the way –

until the moment it came back … WITH ALL FORCE and a DIRECT HIT ….

Did I say

O M G??

Blurb : When life crashes down around us, how hard are we willing to fight for the one thing we can’t live without, each other? Life is full of moments. Big moments. Little moments. And none of them are inconsequential. Every single moment prepares you for that one instance that defines your life. You must overcome all your fears, confront the demons that chase you, and cleanse the poison that clings to your soul or you risk the chance of losing everything.

Mine started the minute Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet. She made me feel. Made me whole when all I thought I could ever be was incomplete. Became the lifeline I never knew I needed. Hell yes, she’s worth the fight…but how do you fight for someone you know you don’t deserve?

Love is full of ups and downs.
Heart stopping highs.
Soul shattering lows.
And none of them are insignificant.
Love is a racecourse of unexpected twists and turns that must be negotiated. You have to break down walls, learn to trust, and heal from your past in order to win. But sometimes it’s the expected that’s the hardest to hold on to.

Colton has healed and completed me, stolen my heart, and made me realize our love’s not predictable nor perfect—it’s bent. And bent’s okay. But when outside factors put our relationship to the test, what lengths will I have to go to prove to him that he’s worth the fight?

Whoever said love is patient and love is kind, never met the two of us. We know our love is worth it—have acknowledged that we were meant to be—but when our pasts crash into our future, will the repercussions make us stronger or break us apart?

Blurb : Book #2 of the Driven Trilogy What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep? Colton stole my heart. He wasn’t supposed to, and I sure as hell didn’t want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist. Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. She’s seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she’s still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner. How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep? He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won’t let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far. How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there’s someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I’d never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I’ll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can’t be what she needs, so why can’t I just let her go? We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?
