Goodreads Review

One story. Two couples.

I fell in love with a man who didn’t exist.

What started out as romance ended in hell.
His words turned to razor blades.
His kisses converted to fists.
His embrace became my cage.
His body transformed into a weapon, stealing parts of me until ultimately….
I broke.

I hated him.
My sole job in life became to protect our daughter.

I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.
Until the day our savior arrived.

This is the story of how I escaped the man who thought he owned me.The transfer of my life and my family.

4.5 11:11 Stars.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW.  Although I want to quote the shite out of this book. Talk about highlighting half of the book.

It’s been a while since I’ve finished this book and I decided it would be better to let it settle before I write my review and yet how can I put into words what this book is like without giving too much away?

I’ll keep it short for the moment and maybe I’ll post the longer review after the release of the books.

Aly Martinez and this duet set sprang up on my radar and I jumped all over these books. Because Aly Martinez, need I say more?

Two couples. One epic story. Really didn’t think that it could be pulled off but…….

This book picks up exactly where the first one finished. So you have to read the first book there is no way about it. But it is worth it. Trust me. Famous last words. Hahaha.

Clare is in an abusive relationship, the opposite of what Roman and Elisabeth have. God how their lives wound around one another even without them knowing they were getting closer it was only a matter of time. Clare has tried to leave, twice but she knows that she isn’t strong enough not even for her daughter Tessa. She is lonely, desperate and sees no way out. Her scars are just too much for her both inside and outside.

Her eyes shined bright with life, staring up at me as if she’d witnessed a miracle. I knew I had. I’d spent the last half hour with fire consuming my soul, fearing she was already gone.

This is Clare and Heath’s story but we get to see Elisabeth and Roman. Their lives are forever entwined. They have so much to gain but also so much too loose.

She was free.

They were free.

We were free.

Clare is well there are no words to describe how strong she is. Domestic abuse is a long process to break up with.  She misses the life she used to have even living in a trailer. Walter Noir is still a thorn in everyone’s side and it looks like it isn’t going to change. But it is going to be tough.

Heath Light, what can I say about Heath that wouldn’t give it all away?

He is strong, overprotective and will do anything to protect those he loves. It doesn’t matter about the outcome of it all.

By the way really important, two alpha males in one book? Undeniable hot & sweet.

Roman & Elisabeth open up their home. Their lives become even more entwined then they did before. God I felt for all of them and I understood each and everyone’s feelings. Each dealing with it individually.

Clare has to deal with the reality of her situation. A range of emotions we see in all of them but the way they were described each feeling that the characters felt was always individual.

Ms. Martinez gives us once again a beautiful story about loss and love the right kind of love. I admit I liked the first one better although I’ve rated them both with 5 Stars just liked the first one a smidgen more.

Clare is left with nothing and doesn’t know in how to deal with that.  The ending was the icing on the cake.

Free of fear.

Free of pain.

Forever.
