Fairytales with a twist! Snow has successfully avoided her past for years … until now. With an evil queen bent on her destruction and a hunter bent on her seduction, she has no choice but to run. Who will find her first? S.E. Babin presents The Hunt for Snow, Book 1 of her exciting, new fantasy series, Fairytale League.

Every ten years a convention is held in a neutral location where people from all the realms come together and reunite. This is no ordinary conference, though, because everyone who shows up holds a place of honor in the legends of old. But there’s one person who doesn’t care that Earth is neutral territory. The Evil Queen, Naomi, is out to settle a score, and she’s brought along one of her most talented henchman to teach the one who got away a harsh lesson.

Snow’s past is shrouded in mystery. Mild cryptozoologist by day, private investigator by night, Snow is dead set on one thing — staying far away from the Huntsman who haunts her dreams. When she shows up to the conference with her two best friends in tow, things start going awry right away. Mere minutes after arriving, they find themselves thrust back into the world they’ve tried so hard to avoid. Now, along with the help of her friends, Snow is struggling to stay one step ahead of the queen who wants to destroy her — and the Huntsman who wants to possess her at all costs.

This is a really unique revamp of the Snow White Fairy Tale. I would like to mention though that there is a second book about the characters which I didn’t know until I was half way through the book which miffed me just a bit. Nevertheless this is a fantastic read and in the end I loved it. But I do not like a cliffhanger. 4 dysfunctional stars. Another plus point is that “How I Met Your Mother” is mentioned.

Snow White ran away from the Enchanted Forest due to the Evil Queen/Stepmom Naomi. Snow now lives in Mystic Falls with her two best friends Cyndi (yes we’re talking about Cinderella) and Belle. The Belle. As the displaced Princess for her Kingdom she receives an invite.
„Your Royal presence is requested at the hundredth annual League of Underground Fairytale Characters and Formal Ball. Conference dress is business casual. Ball dress is obvious. Remember, Princess Snow, no weapons of any kind will be allowed into the ballroom. Please leave the bows, knives, guns and lasers at home. And, dear, please refrain from punching anyone. We haven’t forgotten about your coming of age ball.”

Snow is a kick ass heroine and I really liked her. She is strong, vibrant and not the least bit of annoying. Snow is a practical girl give her, her jeans and chucks and she is happy. Not to forget her guns.
“oh Snow! How exciting! We get to attend a ball!” I sat there cleaning Sig Sauer P226. I loved this gun so much that I almost wanted to make out with it.

Just to complicate matters the Evil Queen has enlisted the help well more like he is forced to of the Huntsman or first name basis is Max. Max is under a compulsion spell to kill Snow. But they also have the hots for one another.
“We are two of the most dysfunctional peple that I know.I don’t want to shoot you; you don’t want to shoot me. You’re angry at the world, and I’m under a magical enchantment to kill you. Could dating get any more complicated than this?”In answer, I pulled the gun from my shoulder holster and shot him in the kneecap. As I hauled ass around him, I felt a tug of remorse.

Max is well Max and I love him. He is strong and he has his reasons for staying under the compulsion of the Evil Queen. Very sad. The chemistry and the banter between the two is great. I really want them to have their HEA: There is a huge power play and it is all evenly balanced. Max wants to prove himself but he just needs to get back what he lost.
I beg of you not to look at me like a monster, but as a man who fights every day to be free. A man that wishes to be with you against all odds. And a man who once again hopes to hold his daughter in his arms, free of the wicked ties that bind me.

We also get to see Red Riding Hood, Robin Hood, Rumpel and Peter Pan as well as Grumpy. I hope that they get books as well. But now all I have to do is wait for the second book. Only Ms. Babin knows how long though.
