Goodreads Review

She is a five foot seven long list of things he can’t have.

He is a determined cop, desperate to keep his heart sealed behind his badge.

Michelle is a survivor. With a fresh perspective on life, she trades her tragic past in California for the coastal waters of Charleston. Fueled by a new career as a dispatcher, she’s determined not to let her scars weigh her down. She apologizes for nothing, especially her insatiable need for a certain police officer.

Rowdy is a newly minted sergeant dedicated to his job, but the life of a Charleston police officer has never been more dangerous. With his need to take order of a city spiraling out of control, the last thing he wants is an entanglement with a mouthy dispatcher. But, there’s just one problem. He can’t get enough of her.

As the heat rises between the unlikely pair, so does the tension.

Three months of summer was all it took to shake their foundations, rattle their walls, and bring them crashing down.

It was lust.

It was love.

It was real.

And it would have been perfect . . . if it wasn’t already over.

“I’m not breathing for ghosts anymore. I’m breathing for you.”

First of all how gorgeous is the cover? It so pwetty. I love it.

There love has been a long time coming…Two years in the making

Rowdy is the Brave Line but over the years things have been changing. Rowdy is an asshole, arrogant and intense and with a dangerous edge that makes him far too attractive and yet Michelle still wants him something fierce. He gives the excuse that he doesn’t shit where he eats but we all know the real reason. Kurt.

Michelle is the life line for the Brave Line the voice in your ear where you know that someone cares. She’s not defined by her past. She has one hell of a potty mouth and a heart of gold. Even after her situation back in LA she is one of the strongest heroine’s and when I found out why she does what she does? I got it. Every night was worth it. All for a better outcome.

Their pasts are heart-breaking but also life changing. They deal with it differently.

Michelle takes life by the balls. She lives out loud and she loves loud as well. It might seem without a care in the world but that’s not true.

Rowdy is the opposite he let his past change him. Once as teenager and then with his best friend Kurt. His world is darkening, bitterness is creeping in and it is hard to fight. Even close calls aren’t keeping him sane. But with Michelle things start to change although he doesn’t want them to he is comfortable and scared shitless but fighting it isn’t cutting it anymore either.

“Because you’re calm water and I’m thirsty as hell.”

I felt a kinship with both Michelle and Rowdy and for different reasons as well. They are so loveable with all their flaws with the fight that they have in them for one another even if it is nearly too late. Emotional, heartbreaking a blend of everything you want in a book. The ups and downs the good and the bad times. The brutal honesty with no deception or lies.

You filthy, filthy downright dirty boy but there are also sweet moments. Rowdy was being sweet not with words but more with his actions. But it was to be just one night….

Rowdy was a sexual deviant hidden behind his blues the way I hid behind my headset. We were a sexual match. And it would have been perfect…if it wasn’t already over.

I fanned myself during the steamy, filthy

“Yes, when we leave here I’m going to spread you over the hood of my car and lick your pussy for so long you’re going to cry. And then I’m going to fuck your mouth with my cock.”

What they came to mean to one another and that they were in it for the long haul and that Michelle couldn’t have said it better.

The beautiful man who was my heart’s keeper.

Now not all was rosy for me in this book because at times it was somewhat long winded with too much inner monologue…

I highlighted half of the book as with all books that I read by Ms. Stewart and yet again realize there is a lot that I can’t use because you know SPOILERS.

I was chomping at the bit for this book there was just something about these two characters where they deserved a book.

My mistake while starting this book was that it would be like Anything but Minor & Major Play. It took me a while to get into Rowdy and Michelle’s story but once I did get into the swing of things I couldn’t get enough.

Ms. Stewart gives us a realistic view to how life on the brave line can be. The characters are down to earth and flawed. There is no o/w drama. No cheating, no boning of others. They bone a lot and are absolutely filthy with one another.

Top notch with the dedication and that it is also based on true story. I have so many feels when it comes to this wonderful, delightful, touching and spellbinding read.

I was a bit disappointed when I started to read but in soon morphed into a love for the characters.
Last but not least some wise parting words from the book.

It wasn’t about the one thing that every person on the planet had a right to do: love and be loved.

Thank you for this fantastic read Ms. Stewart and keep on doing your thing.
