Anna del Mar’s explosive, sexy debut novel in the Wounded Warrior series, perfect for fans of Lisa Marie Rice and Lora Leigh—the story of a woman desperate to escape her dangerous past and the navy SEAL who would lay down his life to save her. Ash Hunter knows what it is to run. A SEAL gravely injured in Afghanistan, he’s gone AWOL from the military hospital. Physically and mentally scarred, he returns home to his grandmother’s isolated cottage—and finds a beautiful, haunted stranger inside.

Like recognizes like.

Lia Stewart’s in hiding from the cartel she barely escaped alive, holed up in this small Rocky Mountain town. Surviving, but only just. Helping the wounded warrior on her doorstep is the right thing to do…it’s loving him that might get them both killed.

Soon, Ash realizes he’s not the only one tormented by the past. Pushing the limits of his broken body, testing the boundaries of her shattered soul, he’ll protect Lia until his last breath.

Ms. Del Mar’s first novel is fantastic start to a new series. It is emotional and not for the faint hearted as there are some triggers in the book rape, pedophilia and physical and mental abuse among other things. Now I have when involving children so to be honest I skipped that part of the book. I have a vivid imagination so I don’t need that in my life.

Ash Hunter did a hospital break as they were threatening to remove part of his leg due to infection. He lands on Lia’s front doorstep with a shotgun to his face.

Lia is scarred from her past and leery of men things start to change when she meets Ash. Lia becomes Ash’s caregiver in exchange for no questions and protection for the moment from a mountain lion but the one who is still looking is a lot more dangerous.

I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll leave it at the review that I’ve posted. Consider it short and sweet, this review not the book.

Ms. Del Mar writes well and it flows well with humour and banter making me smile at the beginning. Now I personally think that this is worth a read so go get a copy. Pronto!
Now this is just me but I really want to read some romantic suspense with different characters not always the same old, same old.

This is my personal opinion therefore it should be taken at face value, nothing more, and nothing less.
