Goodreads Review

**A multicultural new adult romance from bestselling author, J.J. McAvoy**

Eli Davenport thinks he’s found the perfect woman to be his wife. She’s a doctor, like he is. She’s brilliant, like he is. And she’s wealthy, like he is.

Guinevere ‘Gwen’ Poe thinks her fiancé is the perfect man. He’s handsome, successful and he was her first…

But when Eli’s bride runs off with Gwen’s fiancée on his wedding day, they are left to pick up the broken pieces of each other…

My initial reaction after reading this book:

I will just state that up until the 80% mark it was top notch and then I got right pissed off. Me and the author are going to have words.

I’ve had all night to stew over this book and I’m still pissed right off. I will rant and there will be spoilers so you have been warned. Now I might have written my review but I’m still stumped on how many stars to give it.

The authors name rang a warning bell in the back of my head. The Muppet that I am I checked if I’d read another book. Guess what? Yes, 50 points for Huffelpuff. No you can’t be Gryffindor cause I am.

Moving on swiftly now.

It was Sugar Baby Beautiful which drove me just as batty as this one did.

The MC have experienced an event that no one should have. It was like a living nightmare you wanted to look away but you just couldn’t.

Now small world, the main MC got off to a rocky started. Well actually they despised one another, no surprise there but they kept on bumping into one another. The h even ended moving in next door to him. He is Dr. Asshole and she is a Con Artist.

You all know the spiel they get to know one another. Enemies to friends to lovers. I was thinking they are so great together but like the other book I read the author creates a perfect h. I need flaws.

The H is average but he is flawed so that was a positive aspect to it. I thought this would be a happy go lucky read and it was to a certain extent but
Her writing is flawless and extremely engaging as I couldn’t stop reading even when a spanner was thrown in the works.

Yes I know that life isn’t a movie/book with the ultimate happy ending but fuck a duck

Here comes the spoiler so don’t continue you have been warned.

The ex is fucking preggers and a piece of work so the H dodged a bullet there.

I read so that I can switch off and sometimes I need the fairytale.

Then the h decides to be effing martyr, oh come on really?

Now after I have ranted about this book I can say that it is still bloody brilliant.
A talented author can make you like a book even if you aren’t that keen on the ending.

I was even thinking I can finally find some cool images to highlight the brilliance of this book. If I ever want to read books that drive me bonkers then I will come back to this author.

The rant is over.

Nuff said.

Peace out peeps.

But bugger me what am I a glutton for punishment? Looks that way.
