Goodreads Review

Their destiny is written in blood.

Welcome to Star Haven, where the police arrest and imprison alternative humans, if not execute them outright. When outlaw Hannah Quinn saves Officer Scott Grey’s life by bloodsurfing through his broken body, he winds up on the wrong side of the kill line.

Hannah blew any chance she had of escaping Star Haven when she chose to save Scott’s life. Scott has a reputation for killing Alts instead of arresting them. Now that she’s triggered his dormant Alt ability, he’s forced to go on the run with her until she can break his despised Alt power.

Suspicion dies hard after a lifetime of conditioning. Despite the threat to their lives, Hannah finds herself falling for the one man she can’t trust — and Scott falls for the woman who destroyed his life.

With love and mistrust at war in a city where betrayal can earn your freedom, will Hannah and Scott’s tenuous bond be enough to save them?

I know what I read and got to say it is pretty cool but I still don’t know what to write for this review.

I don’t think the author will like me when I write this but picture Marvel meets The Incredibles it’s just that they are hotter and way cooler. This is a feel good book and I think if you like Marvel and the like then it is definitely worth a read.

But there were instances where I thought, woman where do you get your ideas from?

Original plot and well written. You can tell that a lot of work has been invested in to the book and the characters. I enjoyed every moment of this book it just sucked me right in. I was even sneaky and read at work again. I know, I know, shame on me. But you know what? Don’t care.

Quick background information, there are Alts (alternative humans) that have special powers, telepathy, telekinetic, flying, extreme strength etc. There are Norms, no powers just normal human beings. Then there are the Neuts, the neutrals between the two others. Safe Haven is an Alt free zone due to a law being implemented. Thunder City is where all Alts escaped to due to the ban.

Main Plot

Hannah Quinn is on the run from her mother, the mayor Miranda Dane. While hiding out at the top of the hospital she saves Scott Grey’s life. Scott Grey is an alt killer and a cop for Safe Haven but he has secrets a lot of them. Instead of handing Hannah over to her mother, Scott helps her escape to Thunder City. Hannah and Scott are good together. The chemistry is good and although there were doubts on both sides it was balance out well with their other feelings for one another.

Through Hannah, Scott comes to think about some of the choices he made with his family and his life. Hannah also fixed something she shouldn’t have.

The ending was pretty spectacular, with a rumble and a roar, and a ghost and a hack, man. You’ll get it if you read the book.

I really hope that this isn’t a cliffhanger but I’m assuming it is as it seems they only got a HFN. I would like to see more on Alek, Nik & Evan will they get their own books? Hmm, I hope so.
