About J. Kenner
J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and #1 International bestselling author of over seventy novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.
Though known primarily for her award-winning and international bestselling erotic romances (including the Stark and Most Wanted series) that have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list, JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, and paranormal mommy lit.
JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swoon for them.” A five time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy). Her Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series (as Julie Kenner) is currently in development with AwesomenessTV/Awestruck.
Her books have sold over three million copies and are published in over twenty languages.
In her previous career as an attorney, JK worked as a clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced primarily civil, entertainment and First Amendment litigation in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, as well as in Austin, Texas. She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.

3.5 ‘leap of faith’ stars.
After the last two books in this series I wasn’t sure what I expected and well they were a bit dull, you know but this one here is much better. It also happens over the time span of a year so you know none of that instant shite going on. But saying that it could have been more.
Amanda has been burnt by an ex and has put her love life on the backburner but her sex life that’s one she’s all for keeping that active. She lost ground on her career as her boss thought that she was becoming too infatuated with her then boyfriend and never wants to make the same mistake again.
Derek Winston is in Austin on business. He is all work and no play and while having a drink with a friend at the Fix, he is smitten with a certain blonde and boy is he smooth. He is coming to realise that not everything can be about the hamster wheel.
I wasn’t particularly keen on Amanda in the previous books and from what I read in the epilogue of the previous book I was convinced I’d hate the moo but no actually I like her. She isn’t my favourite heroine but she isn’t at the bottom of the bucket either.
I love Derek, he is so patient with Amanda gives her space and in time he worms himself in and she could have it all.
One night in the Fix their eyes connect and they hook up which leads to a regular hook up whenever Derek is in town. The sex scenes were good there is chemistry between these two that is for sure but I wanted to see them really get to know one another there was enough time, it fell shallow again and somewhat glossy. I want substance and I don’t really seem to be getting that here. I just don’t seem to learn. Note to self, remember that for the next frigging book.
The whole ‘I have a problem with commitment’ on the heroine’s part was not a new storyline but at least it was somewhat refreshing that the heroine is gun shy These are all low angst reads that are meant to be fun and a flirt of a read. Which they are they also have a sexy vibe to them. This author is at such ease with her characters and writing you feel like one of the crew which I enjoy.
