Finding a Keeper

 Finding a Keeper
Michelle Geel
March 20th 2018

Brenna Palmer has everything she wants in life: a dream job as a PA for the CEO at Thornsten Industries, and amazing friends. The only thing still missing is Mr. Right.

Then she stares into the mesmerizing hazel eyes of delicious Gabriel Burke, and she is hopelessly ensnared by his cocky charm. Gabe is a sexual master who knows exactly how to entice her surrender. He’s also a millionaire, a ladies’ man, and a dedicated bachelor.

Brenna resists him—there’s no way she’ll live up to the high-caliber women he pursues and she simply doesn’t have the time to reform him. But Gabe won’t give up so easily. He offers her a compromise: she can continue searching for Mr. Right, but as long as her heart remains unclaimed, she’s his to ravish.

It’s a perfect arrangement, until Mr. Right finally does come along. And when he does, Brenna finds herself in a worse predicament, since Gabe has a hold on her that she just can’t let go of.

There is no moral dilemma. She knows what the right thing is to do. It’s just … why the hell does it feel so very wrong?

Lets see #MeThinking… I just read “Finding a Keeper” by Michelle Geel – so what are my thoughts about it.

At first lets get something out of the way. Even though I read mostly eBooks I am still old-fashioned when it comes to the way I choose to read books. I am a “cover-girl” … #MeLaughing – NOOOO not me on the cover but me LOVING Covers …

So when I am picking up a book to take a closer look it is usually because the cover and the title speak to me – and only after that comes the blurb … Because lets face it – in a bookstore … it is first the cover you see then the rest …

And I know I am not the only so I think I kind of need to address it…

Well not sure how to say so I am just going to throw it out there … It’s a good thing I heard the burb before I saw the cover.

Please do not hate me but this picture of that guy on the cover … There were shivers down my back and not in a good way….  I cannot pinpoint it out but it/he does not fit the story.

On to much nicer subjects – like the plot … it seems this is a debut novel and I have to say if that really is a debut – it’s a good one. Ms. Geel has an interesting and fresh approach on how to tell a story.

Writing styles are often compared but so far, I am not sure how to compare her style as the plot development is a little different from the mainstream.

From the first page on you could tell that both leads were strong willed characters and the tone that the novel set was at first that of a romantic comedy of errors that slowly moved through different types of plots into an alpha romance but also not completely.

I think this book will meet the demands of a wide range of readers as you will find – romance, sex, comedy, heartache, friendship, redemption, drama and lots of other things. So there should be a little for every taste.

The interactions between the characters felt real (as far they could – given the fact that the setting was a little fictional- but hey it’s a book so …

About those stars …Why not 5 stars – well I often get this question – “if you thought this book was so good – why didn’t it get 5 stars?” – And its actually a simple answer – If I did not laugh out loud – If I did not cry or get really REALLY angry at a character …. There will not be a 5th star. In my ratings this 5th one is reserved for only those cases because – while I can not always explain my reaction I also cannot control my emotions when reading a story.  To be honest I am sure I would not want to even if I could.

Final note … If this book is any indication of what is to come – than we can expect some interesting stories from this author.
