Yeah I know Hollywood Romances are the stuff that fairytales are made of. That might sound harsh but to be very honest its also honest because we all need our fairytale once in a while right ? …. Did anyone see “Notting Hill” the movie with Julia Roberts ? Did you like it ? well then you are going to love Heartthrob by Katie McCoy. Because I sure did.
In the moment that “Darcy” connection was made I saw the pictures of that movie in front of me #swoon.
And lets face it – the Picture of that British Heartthrob male lead – that the author created was really yummy. #Sigh I can not help but be a goner for that British-ness
If you leave the part aside where the whole plot sounds to good to be real. (and please do that in order to enjoy the story) … you can really feel the characters. They feel as real as they can be in that specific setting. I liked the developing of their relationship, their dialogues towards others as well as their banter with each other –
may I quote a line here ? (no spoilers so no worry) >>>… Both of Jax’s parents stared at me and Jax cast me a grateful, if not amused glance. “Let’s have tea,” Kira said after a long, tense pause. Great, I thought. Better I put food in my mouth than continue to try to shove my foot down there.”… <<<
I guess you can imagine that this and other dialogues like it had me laughing out loud in the most inconvenient places … but who cares #hahahah
What felt so good about the humor was it was subtle and not over the top which had me smiling.
The more I think about it – I think my reference to Notting Hill will be the most helpful if you are considering to read this book. But please do not think that the plot is the same, because it is not … just the feeling and some of the settings might be lets say feel “related”.
My suggestion would be … just take a dive into it … be prepared to swoon …

Geek girl meets hunky farmer… is there an app for that?
Avery hadn’t flown to Ireland to kiss the locals. Her goal was to get to the famous sci-fi movie location, Skellig Michael, and gather data for her next killer app—the only thing standing between her and bankruptcy. Except that first kiss with Cathal—a huge Viking of an Irish farmer with a smoldering gaze and wicked touch—has made her forget what planet she’s currently on.
Clueless on matters sci-fi, Cathal enthralls her with stories of ancient monks and warriors while confessing his real-life mission—to spread his father’s ashes off the wild Atlantic island before his vacation runs out. As boat after boat gets cancelled, Avery and Cathal find ingenious ways to ride out the stormy weather.
United with him in purpose—and in panty-melting lust—Avery knows she’ll never feel so cherished, so mesmerized, so utterly connected to another human being again. But on leaving Irish shores, she needs to know how much of Cathal is real and how much made up, because he seems too good to be true.
And how’s she supposed to sext a man on a farm far, far away who doesn’t seem to own a flip phone?
This is a 55k STANDALONE with HEA of cosmic proportions that sci-fi geeks, farmers, and Ireland fans will particularly enjoy.
A lifelong fan of sci-fi and geek culture, Ashlinn lives in Sweden with her husband and son. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, doing the mom routine, or “researching” on YouTube.

A second-chance romance from the #1 NYT bestseller of The Bet, Matchmaker and Elite series!
She’s everywhere.
Ex-wife.
Love of his life.
The last person in the world he wanted to see…ever.
And now that he’s working beside her every day, he can’t escape her. Her scent, glimpses of her smile, even the tension in the air that makes his body hum with the kind of need he’d only experienced with one person-all of it is driving him over the edge.
Brant Wellington was certain of three things:
Alcohol wasn’t going to solve this.
He really was losing his F-ing mind.
And his gorgeous ex-wife was going to be the death of him.

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult. Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me. That man is gone. In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city. He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman. The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin. It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help. I didn’t expect him to offer it easily. And he doesn’t. Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone. Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says. He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare. I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me. Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself. Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking. |
Since the first time I read a book by Katy Evans it has always been a bunch of emtions running through me whenever I start a new book from her. So why should Tycoon be any different.
And yet it was different – not that I felt when I read the book but the kind of emotions. – Usually her stories bring me near devestation. This time instead I was intrigued with two very clever and strong leads.
Our male lead is as unusual as his name and I loved it. And the female lead is resolute, strong and unwavering in her ideas. Doing whatever is necessary.
In the beginning I was wondering about some things – questioning motives and reasons. This seems to be a “thing” whenever I come across second chance novels, so this was nothing specific with this book. But as soon as I got over this part I directly fell into the plot and loved every second of it.
I can only recommend this book to all lovers of second chances and if you loved the other books of this author I am pretty sure you will also love this one. |
